Name the big news (injury story from camp). I'll go with Burfict is out for at least the first 6 weeks and probably the season.

I also think Burfict will be out the first 6 weeks, but I will say he will be back after that. Not play well, but be getting back to his former self. I don't think he will ever be the Burfict he was, but I think he can still be a "good" LB. Just gonna have to heal the first 6 weeks, and then spend the rest of the year getting back to his football shape and awareness.

What makes everyone think Burfict won't be what he was?

insert Marvin Lewis smily face

But seriously, I think the reputation of micro fracture surgery has everyone expecting the worst, although its just come out that Revis had it during his acl injury, and he seems to have recovered well.

we're the Bengals, where promising football prospects come to die (sometimes literally, sometimes figuratively, and sometimes almost but close enough to leave football).

I'd make a crack about the Bengals medical staff and some of the guys that never made it back, but I think it's unfair given that the entire staff was replaced a few years ago.

And I won't say that Burfict can't be back to what he was. He had the micro fracture surgery very early in his career..... I think some of the negative rep comes from guys that had many years of damage. Burfict is young and I'm guessing that's a big deal for any type of orthopedic procedure. Keep in mind that I know nothing about medicine.

That said, I'm pessimistic because there were reports that he has was still limping considerably a month or two ago and even Hobs doesn't sound optimistic about him being back anytime soon.

Let’s say Burfict, the Pro Bowl WILL backer, is going to be ready for the opener as he comes of micro fracture knee surgery. He tweeted the other day that he’s cutting for the first time since he hurt it against Baltimore last October. And even though you won’t see him in pads early in camp, defensive coordinator Paul Guenther’s “Burfict Plan,’ has him coming back in time for the final two preseason games.

His combine numbers were terrible and most likely indicative of a poor work ethic. AJ Green did more reps on the bench than he did. I'd be shocked if he's as dedicated to his rehab as he should be but I hope he proves me wrong

I have no idea how someone evaluates a video like that..... But to me, that looked much more like a first step in a long process - Not someone that will be ready to play NFL football in 4 or 5 weeks.

Yep..... Once again, we have no depth at receiver. Too bad we didn't have enough salary cap room to get a veteran during free agency.

Supposedly, we are keeping our eyes open for veteran WR's who become FA in the next month.

We already ordered the rings. Might as well plan the retirement party.
