Yeah, we've been discussing it a little bit in the Things I Find Freaking Neat thread - I no longer love in Calgary, but did for 20+ years and still have plenty of family and friends there. This is pretty bad, but Calgary folks are resilient, hopefully the waters will start to recede soon.

im like Dash have not lived there since 1998 and at one time over half my life was in Calgary over periods of time. love the city. all I know are safe and sound. but the waters will recede and things will return to normal

Parts of my neighbourhood have been evacuated but my place has been OK so far about 25 feet above the water right now I think. Downtown is being completely evacuated also.

Nothing we can do but hope it stops raining.

Obviously personal safety is the main priority, but there's a real chance that the Calgary Stampede will be cancelled this year.

if its half full it either goes half way into the ground of Calgary is FUCKED big time. that is NOT a small building

At the Saddledome, home to the Calgary Flames, everything under the first 10 rows was under water Friday — the dressing rooms, the Jumbotron room and all its equipment believed destroyed.

So too is the memorabilia, including a massive championship Calgary Flames photo from 1989 signed by most of the players.

“It’s shocking what we are looking at,” said Libby Raines, VP building operations for the Calgary Flames.
