it gives a good range of how high the water is as they describe it. the picture in the dark is far more eerie

Sounds like the city/provinceis gonna do everything it can to make sure the stampede starts on time

I can see tens of thousands of volunteers coming forward to make it happen as well

Lots of people opening up their homes for people who were forced to evacuate. As Matty said, these types of events bring out the positive and negative aspects of human beings.

Is it going down any yet?

I went to check it out this morning and it looks like the Bow River has dropped about 40-50 cm since last night. IN the western portion of the city. Reports are saying that downstream of Calgary it's rising slightly. The Elbow is apparently falling (I haven't seen this one with my own eyes though).

Here in NY they have laws against "Price gouging" during situations like this but some places still do it. If they get reported the state will go after them though.

I could never see the sense of doing that in fact I think it would be a good PR move to do the opposite of that. Hotels and stores that are not affected by the disaster would benefit a lot more helping people out instead of screwing them over. JMO.

Yup, and my hometown of Medicine Hat is bracing for some high water levels. Hopefully, it won't be as bad as 1995.
