As I mentioned before this is how this team has to play to consistently win. Play solid D and take the goals as they come...on most nights they'll score enough with the talent they have up front. Took a few practices for Chief to drill that back into their heads....good job!
This game resulted in two points, but I still came away from it with a sour taste in my mouth. Apparently we think we can win 1-0 or 2-0 because Calgary pretty much dominated the whole second half of the game. They just can't finish their chances and Emery stood tall, otherwise this would've gone down as a loss. I just don't think the effort was there late and we didn't have that killer instinct to get a third goal or even just lock it down defensively.
The good news is that we have enough scoring threats and enough goaltending to be able to steal some games from less talented teams that outwork us. I also thought Steve Downie was terrible in this game. Aside from that, it's nice to get the win, but there wasn't enough energy put into this game for it to be the final game before the Olympic break.
