To politicize a disaster is patently foolish, especially when this is supposed to be the UNITED States of America.
California like other states have built in conditions that fosters such circumstances. It is disingenuous and not helpful to point fingers at opposing political parties when they all have their dirty hands in substandard infrastructural conditions. Specifically, to the current situation in California, there have been fires during both Republican and Democratic administrations without changes that would give different outcomes to future events. Why not blame them as well? On the federal level, don't exempt any of them either, especially in California because... Of the approximately 33 million acres of forest in California, federal agencies (including the USDA Forest Service and USDI Bureau of Land Management and National Park Service) own and manage 19 million acres (57%). So, if Trump, Biden, or any who came before them gave lip service to the conditions, they stood on quicksand since they had keys to the maintenance, upkeep and preventive measures to these lands.

That's all that I'll be contributing to this finger pointing session, but when you guys are done, I'll attach this entire exchange to a stern letter to all politicians... I'm sure that it will give them pause, before jumping into action, as they've always done, by using it to do what they've always done, keeping people divided and themselves in office. Wish me luck! {sarcasm }

Well said Sty.

Maybe skinsdad will learn something from what you wrote, but probably not.

Looking forward to hearing from the politicians you write….

Nobody "votes for this" where are you getting this nonsense from? Division is the heartbeat of politics in this country, and contemptuous penny pinching cowardice it's lifeblood when it comes to advancing the needs of its people. Take a beat, look at the back and forth in this thread, then multiply that 300+M people and what you have is political paradise.
People support political parties, that's undeniable, but what others do while in office more often than not isn't something that these voters support, and they get away with it because...well... as I mentioned a moment ago, the division doesn't have room for making these folks do their jobs, only more division.

Ok you vote for people who implement these types of policies , regardless of party . Those elected officials knew the consequences of what they were doing , ignored warnings , and voters still voted them in . To top it off they will continue to vote these people in and not hold them accountable for their decisions

It's a two-party system man, people vote because that's a civic duty, that many died to get and maintain. That said, civic duty has never been enough, and the vast majority have become complacent after voting, while the elected keeps them fighting among themselves.
Seriously, what exactly do you think is gonna come from all of this complaining? Perhaps the people will put a Republican governor in office, like Arnold Schwarzenegger, who if you look at your list of things that can be done, did none of them when he held office. Right now, the biggest expanding political faction in this country are independents. Until enough people get off of the two-party hamster wheel, nothing changes, because Republicans don't know how to govern but are very good at messaging, and Democrats try but are terrible at messaging. (Ex: Trump will inherit a very good economy yet few know it. He'll take credit for it, and folks will accept it because the opposition haven't been and won't tout it)

All of which falls on whom ? The voters being a republican or democrat isn’t the issue . It’s voting for people who fit your values . There are RINOS or the democrat equivalent in either party . You start from the ground up , you actually educate yourself on the candidates positions and you vote accordingly . Governor S is just as ate up as the current one but it all falls on the voter and the voter holding people accountable

The people of California indeed voted for this. They had a chance during his recall (Gavin Newsom) from his failed Covid actions to go in a different direction but decided they wanted even more of his incompetence and now they got it,,, at the highest level. Elections matter right. This gleamy smiling slime bucket douchbag failed the people of California in every area. From nonsensical DEI check the box hirings who weren't right for the positions to insanely bad decision making on environmental protection all the way to the turn and look the other way attitude regarding the border.

If he thought a presidential run was in his future this disaster just sealed his fate.
