The worst thing that can happen for anyone who dislikes the Caps is for BB to be fired. Once he is gone the Caps will become a truly dangerous team.

Unless they bring back Glen Hanlon to replace him...

The team just looks like they are confused right now.

And Bruce is taking this disciplinarian thing too far. OV was hustling tonight, just not scoring. But he wasn't on the ice at the end when they had a PP. Not that we were going to get back in that game. But you want to get your PP guys out there to maybe salvage a little momentum for another night. Instead, we have a bunch of guys who never play on the PP out there. Makes no sense. If those guys aren't putting forth the EFFORT, I understand. But now it seems to be he's benching guys for just not having a great night. It's just inconsistent.

The "hybrid" isn't working. We played great offense two years ago. Great defense last year. And now we're playing neither. And from body language, guys not seeming to know where there supposed to be, etc., I think the team is confused. Right or wrong - time for a change.

Confused and disinterested mean different things. I don't see much "softness" there lately and they certainly didn't add any in Ward or Brouwer.

How has Vokoun been playing?

He was stellar for awhile and has been up and down the last couple weeks, though he's not getting much help in front of him. Tonight, he was pretty awful. On the whole though, he's been solid.

I give McPhee the benifit of the doubt although I am a huge supporter of McPhee. He has brought in peices of the puzzle that everyone believes are good moves. Perhaps they aren't as good as they seem, but at the very least he drafts well and makes some moves that the Caps clearly win on. However, GMGM has to do something or he will be gone by seasons end.

Last year I thought it was knee jerk. But they had a terrible stretch last year. Then they had a playoff series where I thought coaching was a big part of it (could not beat the trap), something I didn't think in the Montreal and Pittsburgh series losses the two years before that. And now another terrible stretch this year. And not just like, "oh, we're close, we've had a bad stretch." But embarassing losses to the Sabres and Leafs who could form a full NHL squad with their injured players right now.

They just look lost right now. And the trouble is BB just changes things up even more and it only makes it worse.

That's what I mean by not coaching well. He's over-managing. There's no room for the players to get comfortable.
