Giroux deal finalized. 8 years, 8.25. To be honest, I'm not a huge fan. Love Giroux, but I don't think he's worth that at this point. Hopefully he continues to improve.

So for .5 M do you say no and kick him out even though letang is close to that amount? You simply can't. You have to sign him in confidence that he's going to continue to improve. i honestly take him over crosby at this point anyway due to concussion/injury potential I'd be shitting myself with crosby locked up long term so I don't know why anyone brings that guy up. Did he get a stacked pens team to the cup last year...of course not so why the BS hype. Even malkin is a big??? Give G a solid team and we'll see where he takes them they had 0 D last year.

#48 is a Hab

My son cried a bit when I told him Danny had been bought out.
He's gonna lose it again when I tell him Montreal picked him up, cuz he hates the Habs.
I've taught him well :)

Yes agreed very solid role player.!

Can Hall play the wing? We have a few too many centremen who suck when they get moved to the wing (comparitively speaking, in my opinion), although we just bought out one of them...

ya, he played a little wing last year.. but i think he'll be the 4C and take important draws.. he was 59% on faceoffs last year.. on a team that's as bad at faceoffs as the flyers, you have to have a guy like that playing C

it's really the one thing couturier is missing from being a perfect shutdown C i think.. his faceoff skills aren't very good, and when you take as many d-zone draws as he does, being better at faceoffs would help a lot

Agreed. I do think they overpaid a little -- but, given the other insane contracts around the league, Homer almost HAD to.

sounds like an emery signing is pretty likely.. i'd be real pleased w/ that assuming the contract is what it should be (< 3 years, < 3.5 mil cap hit)

i also have to say, i'm kinda glad the flyers are out of cap space and can't afford clarkson.. if what they're saying is correct (6 mil for 7 years) and he actually signs for that, it will be the worst contract of the day.. he's exactly the kind of guy the flyers normally target

Word around the twitter-sphere is that some team will be submitting an offer sheet to Pietrangelo .... you don't think it was us, do you?

If it is ..... I have no clue what Homer is working on.....

Any word on Hunwick being picked up? I'd love to add him off of waivers? Solid dman and wouldn't cost us any prospects.

Lol. Would not surprise me a bit. Worse case scenario is we deal some players to shed salary. It's very difficult to land guys like these. Problem is, the Blues ownership will match regardless.

Yeah .... I mean, I'd love to have him, but I can't think of a scenario where it is possible.

All this offseason needs now is a Meszaros cap dump and a Gustafsson re-signing
