  • The Orioles are speaking with other clubs to get a feel for what kind of return they could get if they market Matt Wieters, Chris Davis, Wei-Yin Chen, Tommy Hunterand Bud Norris, Stark hears. However, rival clubs feel the O’s will only sell if they slide to six or more games back in the Wild Card race — and they’re 3.5 games out with four to play before the deadline at this time. If they make up a bit of ground, they could add a bat, but Stark says it’d likely be a bench piece as opposed to a bigger name. Baltimore GM Dan Duquette said last week he would be a buyerregardless of the team’s play, though others have suggested that the Orioles could still end up selling if they struggle enough.

The Blue Jays have struck a stunning deal to acquire Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki and veteran reliever LaTroy Hawkins in exchange for Jose Reyes and a trio of minor league pitchers, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports (linkstoTwitter). Promising young rightiesJeff Hoffman, Miguel Castro, and Jesus Tinoco make up the key components of Colorado’s return, per reports. Needless to say, the move constitutes one of the most stunning deadline deals in recent memory.

That's a huge shocker Tulo to Blue Jays. Their offense is stacked but no pitching.

After agreeing to deal franchise icon Troy Tulowitzki, the Rockies plan to shop fellow starCarlos Gonzalez, Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports. “They expect to move him,” a rival GM tells Heyman.

Heyman notes that clubs such as the Mets, Angels, and Orioles all line up as theoretical fits for Gonzalez.

If the O's are serious about contending over the next couple of years, this is a must. Yes, it's going to cost Gausman and several others, but the current club isn't going to get shit accomplished. The FA pool for OF's doesn't look great for next year, either, but there will be plenty of pitching available.

Yea I agree 100%. I;m ok giving up some prospects for him since we'll have him for 2 more years after this season. Manny, Gonzalez, Jones is a solid 2,3,4. Pitching free agent class next year is pretty deep but hitting is not.

Why do you love Reimold so much? He is a .252 career hitter and on the wrong side of 30(31 yo). His WAR is 2.8.
Justin Upton is a career .272 hitter, 28 years old and has a WAR of 23.3.
Carlos Gomez is a career .261 hitter, 30 years old and has a WAR of 22.9.

Upton or Gomez would be huge replacements over Reimold.

Carlos has almost half of Reimolds career homers this year alone.

  • The Orioles‘ interest in Carlos Gonzalez was characterized by one source as “mild,”tweets Jon Morosi of FOX Sports. However, Morosi tweets that the Orioles are still in the Justin Upton market. Baltimore is known to be looking for a corner outfield upgrade but has limited prospect depth from which it can deal to achieve that goal.

Camden is a home run stadium too. Of course doesn't have the elevation he has 12 at home and 8 on the road. Braves gave up Melvin Upton since they were getting Krimbel. That was the only way San Dieago could get Krimbel was to take Upton. Yes Mevlin Upton is awful. Their going to have to pay someone eventually if they want to be good after this year. Cespedes or Upton or Hayward will get a lot this offseason. Probably mroe than what Gonzalez will be making.

who was caleb before last year ? just because we pay big bucks and give up on the future doesn't mean anything as far as wins . nolan could be this years pearce . the lhb from colo tails off every year after all star game . as long as snider has been bad he may turn and go crazy but i don't think so .

I was all for seeing Nolan given his shot but he has shown to be too much of a down player, meaning he seems to play more as a below average player. Chasing one of the "big 3" should be one of our top priorities at the deadline. Wouldn't want to lose Kevin for one of them tho. But if we were to go after Price i may be swayed.

According to USA Today's Bob Nightengale, MLB executives are "absolutely convinced" that Tigers lefty David Price is going to wind up with the Dodgers.

Nightengale suspects that Los Angeles will fork over top pitching prospect Julio Urias to get it done. Price is also drawing heavy interest from the Yankees, Giants, and Blue Jays, but the Dodgers have the young talent to beat all the other suitors. And they'll be a good bet to lock Price up long term once they have him in their grasp.

0:58am: Toronto has emerged as a “strong favorite,” Heyman reports. A deal could come together quickly, he adds.

10:48am: The Blue Jays are making a “major push” to acquire star lefty David Price, Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports on Twitter. Toronto has long been said to be pursuing one or more arms to bolster its staff, and the ace lefty would certainly do that and more.
