It's against the spirit of the rule IMO, but how the f*ck can all these pro players not know how to slide properly.

Yep. His lead foot clearly beat the tag, but it popped off. I couldn't tell if the tag was still on during the split second between the lead foot popping off and the other leg making contact with the bag. Without sure evidence, I'm not going to overrule the call on the field.

Yeah, I forget who the Phillies had at the bottom of their lineup that year, but the Mets had so many injuries this year, the bottom of their lineup has been pretty bad (see exhibit A. James Loney).
Either that or J Roll was just "clutch"
