Bulls working on a 5 year deal with Hoiberg. He has coached Iowa state and led them to back to back conference Championships(Big 12). 1st time ever for school history. Has made the Tournament 4 out of 5 years. In 5 years Iowa st has won 115 game. Most ever in a 5 year span for Iowa St. He runs an NBA type offense and is known as one of the next up and coming NBA coaches . He played for the Bulls back in the day.

I am Big fan of this move. He is a players Coach and likes to play an up tempo offense. This should benefit the Bulls. They have the players to run the floor. Their Bigs can run. I think Bulls will have an exciting offense next year.

Fred Hoiberg working on 5-year deal with Chicago Bulls

This is a risk just like Billy the Kid is for OKC.

I don't care how good of a coach they were in CBB. CBB is not the NBA

We go from a guy who was viewed as a major disappointment for losing in six to the Cavs to a guy whose team lost to UAB (the same UAB that was losing 35-14 and 60-30 to my Wisconsin Badgers).

Yeah, not happy. Comparing him to a proven team developer like Billy Donovan is an insult to Donovan.

Be careful what you say remember you doubted Kerr lol

Just said it is a risk. I actually would hire a guy like kerr who worked in the front office of an nba team but lacked coaching experience over a college coach who never worked in the front office or coached in the league

Might want to research Fred.

He's been destined for the NBA for a while. Just went home to get some expeierence first.

It worked for GS. Plus Hoiberg is an NBA coach. His style is an NBA style of play. Its a great risk for the Bulls

The hold up is medical.

Hoiberg has had a second heart procedure after the Bulls held off from hiring him last off season. The last one was just April 20th.

2 heart procedures at 42 years old, there are seriously people that are not sure he will make it thru his 5 year deal.

This is not new news, this is the same deal they had last off season, but did not make the move due to his heart procedure, now there has been a second one.

I hope they get an experienced guy on the staff to take over.

I really dont think they are even exploring options.

Kind of funny that 17 years ago Jerry ran a great coach out of town in order to hire the HC from Iowa St, Tim Floyd.

Now here he is running Thibs out of town to once again hire the HC from Iowa st.

Two things that Fred Hoiberg can do right away that will win him points.

1) Design an offense that doesn't have Noah at the top of the key, when everyone knows that he can't and won't shoot it.

2) When you think you're about to call Kirk's number, bite your hand or get one of those rubber band thingies to remind you not to do so.
