This was exactly my thought as I watched. There are numerous reasons ratings are down.

This is right at the top. The league is run for shit. It's clearly pompous and just not working too hard to put out a good product. Brees said something similar today....and yes....it was clearly driven by players association posturing on player suspensions. But there was a thread there. Trust. No one trusts this league. Not the players due to how oddly the player suspension policy is handled.

And keystone cop bullshit like that there is why fans are losing trust. That should have been personal foul and a makeable FG. Adding insult to it we all could clearly see the refs over the ball while the clock ran.

I don't buy that it's some fix. I just think they can't run a decent game. The standards have just fallen so much and the product suffers. No wonder I've watched less NFL this year than the past 20 years.

These refs were sketchy prior to that debacle to end the half but they either didn't know the rules and were sweettalked by Carroll, or simply forgot. Both are unacceptable.
