Series Thread: Bucs at Phils

Good first game of the series so far. 6-1 Buccos in the top of the 8th.

Morel has been surprisingly strong tonight, especially defensively. He's also got a couple hits, including an RBI double. After yesterday's game in Chicago when he hit the ball hard every time up, it's a good sign that he can maybe hold the fort a little bit until Harrison's back.

Mercer and Marte have both been electric. Cutch has been getting on base repeatedly. Locke was stellar. Walker came through in a big spot. Gaby had a productive pinch-hit at bat. Total team effort so far, and the offense has really started clicking against some weak teams. Hopefully, we can get some sustained momentum.

Utley is some kind of hitter. Watson hit his spot with the slider, low and away, and Utley pulled it into the right field corner. That's not easy to do.

Rough inning, but the Bucs still have a two-run lead, and the Phils have just 3 outs and the bottom half of their order to make it up.

If Miami can hold on to win they will be 1.5 up on the Braves and Brewers.

Once again Morel played good enough at 3B to help.

This offense is really starting to fire. Also the Pirates are +25 runs scored on the season. That's really surged in the past few weeks.

Walker loses a ball in the sky or lights, and it drops in for a double, and then that run scored on an Utley single.

The bats are better tonight. Of course, that has a lot to do with Philly's pitching being much, much worse tonight than last, but it's still good to see.

our offense is really churning. pray that no more injuries.
marte, harrison, mercer, cutch, martin are so hot. walker has carried himself well in the 4 hole also.
polanco is having better AB, selective with good BB rate, and some bad luck hard hit outs. hustling all around when he can.
even snider and tabata continue to contribute at a much better than expected level.

please move our 1B to the 8 hole.

our 4 with atlanta could determine the WC and the central as we should be close to the cards that last week as well.

Well, Liriano was pretty decent tonight.

when he is on, he doesn't overpower any one but makes many look foolish.
melancon has been uncontrollable and so efficient as often gets thru the ninth in 10 pitches or less.

hopefully marte is OK and just a stinger.
