One of the main topics covered in Pelini's session with the media was the status of freshman quarterback Bubba Starling. Starling was selected fifth overall by the Kansas City Royals in June's Major League Baseball Draft and must decide between football and baseball by the Aug. 15 MLB signing deadline. The freshman quarterback is not on the current 105-man roster, but Pelini noted that he and Starling's family have been in constant communication on the best way to handle the situation.

"We'll see how that plays out," Pelini said. "The situation is normal, but obviously he has a lot at risk so we communicated with the family and decided the best way to go about it and we're all on the same page."

"This was a plan we've had for a while now. It's no surprise to me or them. We're all on the same page as far as how we're going about this."

as far as pressure goes....he should go with KC. they're terrible...they don't expect anyone to be good. on the other hand, if he comes to Lincoln, he will be expected to be Peyton Manning. i hope he chooses to stay here (and i think there is a decent chance that he will, just because he loves playing football) but i wish him the best. here's to watching him play next year, either for the Huskers or the Omaha Stormchasers (if he is on the team i will probably go to a game).

I would hope all our pressers on the kid en sech would transpire to better than a deer in headlights getting his ass sacked down after down in the National Championship game......If he turnes down the money...(I know he won't, and I'll probably be the only Husker not to bash the kid for not turning down the money).....he better be a whole lot better then Peyton in college for all the circle jerkin' us Husker fans have been giving the young feller....
