New news to me. Apparently in Dallas area it has been known for a couple days.

from ESPN

Baylor quarterback Bryce Petty, who has the guided the nation's most potent offense, said he'll be returning for his senior season with the Bears.

"I will definitely be back next year," Petty told KWTX-TV in Waco on Wednesday.

Good for Baylor. Unfinished bid-ness, I say.

in his class. murray, mccarron, etc. are ranked higher than him and not included in that figure.

lol @ all the facepalming when evidently nobody really had a clue.

ESPN's Mel Kiper ranks Baylor redshirt junior Bryce Petty as the No. 6 QB in the class.

in THE class. As in this years NFL draft class.

Tim Tebow went in the 1st round. QB is a position teams feel the risk is worth it. Doesn't matter what team he plays for, putting up big numbers is going to draw attention from 1 team. As Tim Tebow showed - you only need to impress 1 team.

I am not a huge Petty fan. I think he is about average making the normal throws and below avergae baking the tough throws. Solid AQ starter, but someone that is special talent.

I kinda agree with the troll Auburn fan and Codaxx....every time I've watched Petty play, he's hitting wide open receivers down the seam and such. Decent arm, but I really haven't seen him make a ton of tough throws. I wouldn't touch him in the first two rounds for sure.

From December 4th,

ESPN’s Mel Kiper had Petty as the fifth-ranked quarterback with eligibility left. He had Bridgewater, Mariota, Manziel and Hundley ahead of him as well.

At best this puts him near the bottom of the top 10. This is why I asked if he was even a top 10 QB prospect. It appears he may be, but is fringe.

Baylor's passing scheme is a lot of seam, crossing, drag routes. Petty's positives are that he more often than not hits the receiver in stride, and the receiver then takes the short toss for a long gain. Their offensive scheme is to line up receivers out beyond the numbers, thus taking as many defenders as possible away from the box. This opens benefits the run game. Contrary to those who haven't watched them, they are a running team. Their run/pass ratio is about 60% run, to 40% pass. They do not use wide O linemen splits, aka. Mike Leach air raid, but rather split receivers as far out as possible.
