Of the 25 man roster...

"set-up man" is somewhere along the lines of 19th most important.

To quantify it, he's only more important than about 24% of the roster...

In the NFL, I'd say the long snapper is probably the 43rd most important player on the team, right?

Cool, so you agree...

Of all the 19th most important roster spots on a team in baseball, the Yankees have one of the best.

5 starting Pitchers
9 Everyday players are more important than Set up

Closer I guess too

Which would be 16th..

He must be counting bench bats..

So a dime a dozen 230 hitting position player that can be easily replaced, and every team has a few, is more important than a lights out set up man?

I bet you this. There will be no less than 5 teams in baseball this season that miss October and the in-ability to hold leads will be the #1 reason, not 19th

No, no, no, no...

It doesn't work that way.

Will you take a lights out closer or an elite player at any other postition on the diamond? How bout vs an elite starter? An elite closer? An elite utility guy?

I don't know what the fuck you're yammering about Bard for. This has nothing to do with Red Sox or Yankees... it's about baseball...

Like I said... Of all the 6th least important players on a roster, the Yankees have one of the best.

Okay... it's the 6th least important cause you say so.

Got it.

If the Yankees win, I'll post something at 7:30AM EDT.

If they lose, I'll be out helping Rock.

"Best setup man in baseball"

Thats like having the best long-snapper in football..

Uh no, actually a set up man is pretty damn important

Daniel Bard circa September 2011 agrees with me

I never said anything about "awful" I laughed at you conclusion that he's "trending towards mediocrity" when if you're going to include Marcums 2013 small sample...it means Kennedy is trending towards "fucking terrible"....

After my research? Cashman has done about as well as the blue jays...and astros...2 of the worst run, fucked up franchises in baseball

"That's GRRRRREAT!!!!"

lol...Kennedy is trending towards "fucking terrible"...but marcum's 6+ ERA is too small of a sample size...you're hilarious

After your research? You looked at 7 teams...cashman was middle of the pack of those 7 teams...as in right where I said he was...

You proved me right...you fucking moron

I drop science.... hard core quantitative AND qualitative analyses...

You deflect and dismiss, hoping nobody notices...

I win.

You dropped science when you compared a setup man to a long snapper? I must have missed it

Why do you do this troll routine thing and then whine about not being able to have rational conversation? I've asked at least a dozen times and you've ignored or deflected every time...truth hurts eh?

A realistic floor for Kennedy 3 years from now (Marcums current age) is similar production to Marcum..... but over about 400 more innings.

Austin Jackson on the other hand is already a better player than Aaron Hill. And he is still a year or 2 away from his prime

-----

So...we're allowing speculative analysis....

So...top prospects, who I excluded...now count.....which doesn't really help the Yankees...unless you want to include a guy in the low 40's of BA's top 100 as a "top prospect"....which will hurt the Yankees in this even more...

We could also include some of the 1st rounders I deliberately excluded, guys like Price...the Rays still had a choice to make there...they still had to identify, and develop that talent...giving them zero credit for it it pretty stupid...

You know how I know I'm right?

Because if you thought I was wrong, you'd be arguing me about it.

But you're not...

having to move the goalposts doesn't help your argument

I think what Snuggs is saying? That a guy that plays the field for 9 innings, and gets 4 at bats a game in 150+ games...contributes more than a guy that gets 3 outs 60 times a year...

Ask me if I'd rather have an average 2nd baseman with an elite "8th inning guy" or an elite 2nd baseman and an avearge 8th inning guy?

I'm taking the elite position player...all day...every day....
