Bochy will retire tied for 9th in season's managed (wth Stengel and McKechnie), 5th in losses (possibly 4th if the Giants go on a horrible slide to end this season), and tied for 6th with WS won (with McGraw, Huggins, Anderson and LaRussa). Hopefully, he can get at least tied for 10th with Durocher in wins but even if he doesn't, he has the longevity and trophies to get in the HOF.

Out of the 25 managers that got to manage for at least 20 seasons, 17 of them have made the Hall. It should be noted that most of the guys who are not in the Hall are recent managers. Jimmy Dykes, Ralph Houk and Gene Mauch are the only ones who've not managed in the 21st century. None of the 8 not in the Hall have won more than WS trophy. Half of them didn't even win 1 WS trophy.

Giants just need to go 13-4 for sole possession of 10th and 12-5 for a tie.

Well, with a week's worth of games left to play, there is nothing meaningful left. Bochy is where he is. Not in the Top 10, but over 2,000 wins and 3 WS titles to his name. He'll still get in to the HOF but it sure would have been nice to get him in the Top 10. It doesn't get more SF.

Of course the team wins the first day after it matters for nothing. Winning now hurts the team more than anything. The team currently sits tied for 13th in next year's draft with the Texas Rangers. I believe they have the tiebreaker on that one, due to their 2018 record being worse than ours. I good, solid tanking for the last 6 games could move us as high as the 10th pick in 2020.

Meh. The dif between the 10 an 13 is minimal. I would rather send Boch out on a high note and see Davis, Dubon and Webb play their asses off.

Heard a good point on the radio today. One of the ways we know Bochy deserves the HOF is how few true superstars he had on his teams. The 2010-2014 dynasty had no Hall of Fame locks on them (Posey is closest, but is he a lock? Bumgarner is on the bubble, not at all a lock). How many teams that win multiple titles can say that?

Bochy's teams never underperformed. Sometimes they were bad, but that's because they had little talent and/or lots of injuries. He never had a good team that performed poorly.

The guy always seemed to make the most out of his teams. He made bad GMs look merely mediocre and mediocre GMs look good. I do wonder if his ability to get the most out of his players actually caused the teams he managed to not go as aggressively after bigger name players. However, I doubt that they would have made enough of a difference. I do wonder if he managed the team in 2002, would he have 4 WS titles?

And I think Beltran, a pretty solid player, would be a bit of an asshole manager.

Crazy because that is super judgemental and I know nothing of him as a team mate.
