I agree with above post. He had 8 last year and 2 cost us a game(somewhat cost us.) Now again the he didn't get fined because after looking at it they saw it was clean but still it hurt us at the time. Golson was the same and we looked better with out him. Same will be for Whitner. We have a good system for players.

We will miss his leadership and fight.

Being a good hitter will only mean more penalties, so I don't see him leaving as a big loss.

Having reid n whitner back there improved our pass coverage which wasnt given a fair praise IMO... Look at the hits seahawks gets away vs the horrible calls on whitner.

For whatever reason, Whitner developed a reputation this season and the refs loved to flag him.

Whitner also played behind the best LB core in the NFL, now its Bethea turn and at a cheaper price

Is that really any different from the 'Legion of Boom' who did not get flagged as often?

Some of his hits could have been used as examples of what not to do as far as launching and it stuck in refs minds. :noidea:

F'it. From another thread:

RT @mattbarrows Neither of 49ers presumed starting safties, Eric Reid or Antoine Bethea, had a single penalty in 2013.

On a similar note, you can tell the refs didn't forget about Goldson even after he joined the Bucs. Goldson got his fair share of penalties and fines as well as a suspension.

This comment is just silly:

R Sherman - 0.579 penalties per game (PI & Holding = 8, Roughness = 2, Taunting = 1)
K Chancellor - 0.316 ppg

D Whitner - 0.368 ppg

And the entire Seattle secondary had 38 penalties in 19 games versus 23 (also in 19) for Santa Clara.

So, how did the LOB not get flagged as often?

It was about flags that were NOT thrown...not a count about who had more. If you had been watching these games rather than looking at stats you would know the answer.

You're not making any sense...or at least not using English correctly.

Could have been him trying to change his name to "Hitner".

I then proceeded to show you that the LOB did indeed get flagged more often. Richard Sherman especially (who is also a big mouth, you may have noticed).

Now you're saying something about flags NOT thrown. You're not making any sense (normally, I'd think I made a mistake or misread something, but here it really looks like its just on you).

Seahawks should be flagged far more often than they're flagged for...

so even if that number is high now, it should be HIGHER
