Great for blogger fodder, but it is a very long shot. First, Kyle has to be hired. That's not a given. Second, Kyle would be going way out on a limb from the very beginning to ask for a trade for Kirk. Big risk that could blow up in his face. Third, no way they give up one of their firsts for Cousins. Doubt they would even give up their second, its basically a first this year.

On the flip side, if there is a team that needs a QB, its CLE. But they are going to get a highly rated QB in the draft. They could end up with Manziel. He may or may not be NFL caliber, but he'll put butts in the seats and bring excitement to a comatose franchise.

I give it less than10% chance. But if somehow we could get their second, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Read the comments for that story - pretty funny. They are as bad as the ones from the WP. Do these outlets go out of their way to ensure that only the stupidest comments get posted?

Some state that the Browns should neither trade nor use a high draft pick to get a QB - great idea that will ensure that they are in the same position for the next 10 years. Some are already proclaiming Hoyer as their savior - way too early since we have seen many QBs do well for several games (& even an entire season) & subsequently come back down to earth.

Lastly - there are the typical posts from the naysayer Skins fans blasting Snyder and RG3. I didn't realize until reading comments like these that RG3 was apparently one of the worst people in the NFL & is currently scheming on how he can control the whole team & possibly ruin the franchise further in the process. Who knew?

Yes, it would be. I could see the Browns making a trade, especially if Kyle comes on board. BUt a 1st rounder? No way. I would be ecstatic with their 2nd rounder.

IF, and I say IF KS is hired by the browns, I see no more than a 3rd rounder with a throw conditional pick in 2015.

This is probably more realistic, once again, I'm in the minority here, but I would probably take that. KC is doing nothing for us on the bench and nothing if he walks as a FA in a coupla years.

Agreed. A couple of things here... Kirk didn't help his value while playing the last 3 games in place of Griffin. Having Kirk on the roster sitting as you mention doesn't help his value and his rookie contract is of value to other teams. Also, Kyle knows how the Redskins organization values KC which enables the Browns to have an inside edge into negotiations considering Kyle has insight. I believe this is a deal the skins would be open to and I believe Kyle thinks he can win with KC as his QB.

I say trade KC for a 3rd and a conditional pick. If he starts 8 games or more for Cleveland, then we get a 2nd in 2015. If they make the playoffs, it's a first in 2015.

Yeah, In this draft an extra 3rd pick would be great! Cleveland is not Oakland....we are not getting a 1st OR 2nd.
Neither Kyle nor Kirk have that type of influence.

It's not the 3rd that thrills me. It's the conditional pick.

That would be a great plan, and is certainly not unreasonable, but I wonder if Cleveland would go that high on a conditional pick or give a conditional pick at all??

As the article states, It really depends on who they are willing to settle with at QB. They would certainly be in the hunt for the #2 QB taken at #4, but some team might jump right over their heads to pick up a Manzel, Bridgewater, Bortles...just like we did for RG, leaving them with teh 1st round QB scraps. Are they willing to give up their additional first rounder to move up a couple of spots from pick #4 to #1 or #2 to ensure they get their guy??? That really might be what it takes. If not..then they may be going in another direction and would consider Cousins??

Another thing to consider is that their fanbase is foaming at the mouth for excitement, wins, and a QB that will move them in the right direction. I doubt that bringing in Cousins would exactly get them excited.

I'd do that deal.

Absolutely no way we give Cousins up for only a 3rd round pick I mean my god Arizona gave up a 2nd and Cromartie for Kolb and he sucked

Exactly why we won't get a second. Because too many backup QBs that were thought to be starter material and traded for have failed. If we get a 3rd and a conditional pick based on performance, then that is a good deal for both.

I agree 100%. He is behind RG3 and will be for the foreseaable future. Get what you can for him now, or he walks in a coupla years and we get zilch, and are hiring Rexy back to be our backup.

I am not sure why some of you think Cousins is 1st or even 2nd round material. There will be several QBs available in the mid rounds who are just as good as Cousins. He has shown nothing to indicate that he is anything more than a quality backup with limited upside IMO. That being said..it wouldn't completely floor me if we got a 2nd, not betting on it though.

Agree & Cousins did not help his case with his inconsistent play at the end of the year. He showed exactly what he is - a young QB with potential who still makes mistakes. That is pretty much the case for a lot of QBs.

However - I am also confused why people always state the if Cousins is moved Grossman is automatically the backup. Especially if Cousins is moved in the offseason - the Redskins are going to find a backup QB elsewhere. They don't have to find another potential starter - just someone better than Grossman who can manage the game if RG3 gets injured.

Jamarcus Russell, Alex Smith, David Carr, Mike Vick, Tim Couch, Steve Emtman, and Jeff George were all #1 overall picks. All are busts; yet, we have had Andrew Luck and Cam Newton taken #1 since then.

There have been good backup QBs too such as Steve Young, Colin Kaepernick, and Kurt Warner.
