The veteran defensive end returns to a defensive-line room that has changed quite a bit since his previous contract expired with the Broncos

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Broncos re-signed free agent defensive end Billy Winn and waived DE Bobby Richardson in a pair of roster moves Wednesday.

Winn joined the team as a free agent on the first day of training camp in 2016. The sixth-year defensive end then saw an increased role in the defensive-line rotation after a season-ending ACL injury to Vance Walker and an in-season elbow injury to Derek Wolfe. Winn contributed in all 16 games for the Broncos in 2016 and started two games in the final half of the season. He finished the season with 19 total tackles and one fumble recovery.

Winn returns to a defensive-line room that has changed quite a bit since his previous contract expired at the end of last season. Wolfe, Jared Crick, Adam Gotsis and Kyle Peko remain, but the team added Domata Peko and Zach Kerr through free-agency and second-round pick DeMarcus Walker through the draft.

Richardson signed with the Broncos as a street free agent in February after spending his first two NFL seasons with the New Orleans Saints, Washington Redskins and Kansas City Chiefs.
