Nobody should be surprised. Hoping Ray can have a nice season, still haven't lost faith on him turning it around. He showed flashes in year two and then was hurt virtually all of last year with the wrist. Seems most from his draft class have had their option picked up thus far, so a bit depressing after really thinking we stole him at pick 23.

Sylvester Williams- 5th year option declined
Bradley Roby- 5th year option picked up
Shane Ray- 5th year option declined

Paxton Lynch not going down the right path to have his 5th year option picked up either next year.

Makes sense with Shane Ray especially after drafting Chubb. If they picked up his 5th year option between Chubb, Von Miller, and Shane Ray they would have closer to $40 million just wrapped up in the OLB position alone next season.

and I think at this rate we have more interest in Shaq Barrett then Shane Ray if we were to hand out more money at the OLB position.

I would love to keep Barrett. I think he is a nice compliment/depth guy to keep around if we at all can. He gives you a nice all around game and you can see his effort on the field every play he is in. We saw last year that he just isn't up to the call to be the full time starter though.

Barrett doesn't have the eye popping stat sacks, but he puts pressure on the QB with the best of them.

In fairness to Denver, this one has been some bad luck... Didn't reach like we have on some of the 2nd/3rd rounders we haven't liked in the past... Everything looked good... Until he got on the field. ;)

I can say that to this date I did see his best NFL game. His 3 sack game against the Bengals in year 2... Really thought that was his breakout game.

I do like Barrett and I hope Denver can keep him. What kind of rules can the Broncos take advantage of to keep Ray if he has a break out year?

He will be an UFA now after next year.

They can re-sign him before Free agency or designate him the franchise player I guess. But he follows UFA "rules"

Not really much unless they are willing to pay him big time money. This is the chance you take when not picking up the 5th year option. There is risk either way.

Once the Broncos drafted Chubb I knew they weren't going to bring back Shane Ray. I wonder where he's gonna go now. The Jets seem like a viable option for his services.

Hard to say a year before he becomes an UFA.

Few others that didn't have their option picked up

Bears WR Kevin White
Bengals OT Cedric Ogbuehi
Chiefs (drafted by Browns) G/C Cameron Erving

Kevin White never really impressed me. Ogbuehi is much better as a depth guy and the same can be said about Erving.

The Chiefs almost seem too obvious. Dee Ford is basically the same flawed guy except 2 years older but I think KC is stuck with him in 2018.

I hate that the Chiefs burned a draft pick on Cameron Erving even if he was a late rounder. He was AWFUL last year.

He reminded me of a stone pillar at Stonehenge. He wasn't blocking anything. Just standing there

Yeah wouldn't shock me to see him end up with the Chiefs since he is from that area and has a lot of his family and friends still there.

He'll be bitter they didn't bring him back for a 5th season so he'll want to play the Broncos 2x a year and get back at them.
