Brodeur would fit on these four teams - NHL Free Agency 2012

No way this happens, right?
I mean, if anyone deserves to finish out a career with the same team it's Marty.

Then again, Montana in KC, Rice in Oakland, Favre everywhere, etc, those also happened...

Just like Sid will be a 40yr old playing out his 3rd/4th line years in Houston or Seattle, this COULD happen.

Shouldn't... but COULD.

And as much as I dislike the Devils... this just can't happen. Pony up some dough, Devils mgmt, don't let this happen.

I wonder if he's waiting to see what happens to Parise.

Point being.. if Zach is skating for someone else, maybe Marty sees the likelihood of the Devils challenging for another eastern conference title as pretty slim, and he wants one last shot at the cup. If Parise goes elsewhere, maybe Marty does, too? :noidea:

I think he just didn't like Lou's first offer, so is using the market to pull a better number from the Devils

Does he want all that chicago travel in the west?

Didnt Marty tell allaire to fuck off when he was 18?

Doesn't tallon want luongo first and foremost?

I could see him going to tbay with all the frenchies they have but yzerman played a large role in switching to luongo as starter during the 2010 Olympics

I get the feeling this is just about getting some leverage in negotiations and squeezing extra dollars out of Lou

Just stay in new jersey marty

He'll be a Flyer tomorrow afternoon - book it.

And his GAA will double next season.

I remember at the end of all our swamp days I said that I thought Marty would end his career with one year on a shitty team such as the Thrashers (Bless their Soul)

So, lets see if I really am a prophet.

I hate when this stuff happens. Nothing I respect more than the guys that stick with one franchise for their career. Obviously it just can't happen for most, but that's why I love it.

"And that's it for us tonight, folks. Crosby gets his first goal in 16 games, and from beyond that 2-point arc, it was an important one and gave the Citgo Houston a 3-2 victory over the Microsoft Seattle."

sadly, hose days are long gone
it will be an extreme rarity these days instead of the rule
Players (all leagues) will want to squeeze those last few "useful, i can still play" years out, even though they don't fit into their current teams long term plans anymore - so GM's won't/CAN'T pay them what the player thinks they are worth as it doesn't fit in to the fiscal responsibilities they have to the team/owner. Loyalty or no... you'll see token offers to stick around to appease a fanbase who is screaming for their player, players get the feeling they are worth more and decide to "test the market" (which is always blamed on the organization for some reason, the player always gets a pass from the fans, saying mgmt should have offered more $, never "he should take less $), and languish for a few more serviceable in not remarkable years on 3/4th lines or in back up roles elsewhere for the teams that need "that experienced veteran leadership and influence in the locker room for their young guns".

Sports = big business = older players won't get paid = icons move.

Rice in Oakland. Fucking crying shame, but it happened.

Again.. I HATE THE N.J. DEVILS!!!
BUT

I REALLY hope Marty stays and retires there.
It needs to happen. It just needs to.
Please Lou, give him money.
Please Marty, take it and accept your role, whatever that may be.
Don't be a Montana in a K.C. helmet, please.

Don't diss the two point arc in hockey; it was the best part of Pro Beach Hockey. RAMP IT UP!

Brodeur to a Southern-team, so his next choice of wife is not as frowned upon...

As much as I wouldn't want to see Marty leave...I can't give the guy something like 2 years, $8M.
