I like the move. Provides more depth in the back field and he knows the system. Hopefully he'll cut down on his 24 penalties he committed last year.

Can't see him being any thing more then depth. Paying Lane to be the starter. On the plus side Browner knows the system and could still be useful in certain situations, such as guarding a big receiver or in defending the run. I bet there is no guarantee with his contract, or very little.

Wouldn't be surprised to see him be a valuable reserve, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him cut late pre-season.

Yup, pretty much my thoughts on it also.

I do have a soft spot for Brandon because in '11 on some of our's previous board, people where Brandon who the eff? when we signed him.

I got to watch him play (and interview him for our show) a number of times in Calgary, where he resurrected his football career, and became the #1 shutdown corner in the CFL. That may not seem like a big deal, but on the enormous field up here, being a shutdown corner is a pretty tough thing to do.

I wasn't surprised that he fit in with the LOB, because he had a HUUUUGE chip on his shoulder, as he was pretty talented and drafted in the big show, but then suffered a really bad injury, and the Broncos cut him.

What's not to like with this move? It's not making us the clear cut SB faves if we weren't already, but some good intangibles with getting the band back together. Browner has that physicality and edginess that helped create this team's identity. Will add some good depth if Lane ends up being the starter.

1 year prove it deals always are an A to A+ grade from me. Giving this an auto A+ since it's gotta be cheap (Seattle doesn't have THAT much to spend), he's familiar with our system, and of course... 1 year prove it deal.

Seattle also desperately needs flexibility in the draft with holes at OL, DL, LBer, and possibly TE to fill. Two positions that are second/third most important to QB.

Yep, he gets a lot of penalties. At least he has in the past. However, that doesn't tell the whole story. Hawks led the league in penalties yet won SB48. Now, I would like to see him play a bit more disciplined, but you're typically not going to be able to be one of the most physically imposing and aggressive players at a given position in the league without racking up some laundry along the way. Cost of doing business, much like strikeouts with power hitters in baseball.

But Browner's not a power hitter anymore... IMO, he isn't as good as he once was... It was easier to have a bit of grace for his penalties but it seems like he's getting burnt like crazy, missing assignments, and not as fast in terms of downfield and pivot speed/agility, etc...
