Actually I stick with my guys. After one game I still am not certain we don't bring in another vet and if Romo does go down it will be a tough spot for Prescott even if he is the real deal. And of course we all hope that doesn't happen and he doesn't get the chance to play meaningful snaps. I loved what I saw of him and can't imagine being more impressed with a young QB thrown into game action for the first time, but I understand that Gary Hogeboom didn't end up being a HOFer so I will hold off on making a decision on what I think Prescott is until I see him a couple of more times. You're not a front runner areally you? anything new on Jaylon Smith
Well at least it can only be good news for you going forward!Probably best to just put Jaylon Smith out of your mind until this time next year.
Just a gut feeling, but I don't think Smith is ever going to play a down for Dallas. I know that's not a popular opinion, and I should keep it to myself, but I have already written that pick off. Hope like hell I am wrong. We will see.

Part of the reason I don't think he plays this year even if he improves is I don't think it's worth the risk. If he gets better and we rush him out there and he has a relapse we could lose him for another year. I think we are OK at LB. We have one star and a bunch of guys that I think will stick their nose in there and can do the job. All we need is two to step up and earn starters snaps and I think we will also see some rotation to maximize the various skill sets.Jaylon Smith giving Cowboys fans reason for hope
Sounds promising on Smith, most likely not this season, but yes for 2017.

Yeah, he has thrown 12 passes and played a half of football. Hold off on the anointing oil. But, I think we all know that. We are just psyched at how well his first game went because none of us expected that. Many are saying we never had a backup look like this. OK 10-12 for 130 is pretty hard to match but I always thought Orton looked good.

I think the excitement is based on a lot of things. First off we all want to see all of our draft picks play and when one looks like he could be a great pick we know how good that can be for us (Just like if Collins gets 3 sacks in his debut). Second, we have ignored the QB position in the draft for so long. When was the last time we had a young QB that we just drafted that any of us thought had even a chance of being our next starting QB? Lastly, we went into the off-season knowing a good part of what derailed last year was Romo going down. Most of us wanted to bring in a veteran to compete for the backup spot, but we didn't. Then the one guy that had any game experience at all (regardless of your thoughts on him) goes down and leaves us with a rookie and a guy with little more experience then a rookie. So what looked like a position that had us disappointed that we didn't bring in (list your preferred also ran backup QB here) and could again derail our season if something happened to Romo and had us looking to trade guys like Leary or McFadden (who we can now possibly keep or trade for something else (DL help?) if he does it again) has become a bright spot for not only this year but maybe for the long term. Yes, that bright spot may dim a little next game and go out altogether by the time the season starts, but it wasn't just the stats themselves. It was his poise, his accuracy, his arm strength, the deep ball and his ability to read the defense, even if it was a simple preseason defense. It was a good day for young Mr. Prescott.

Debbie Downer.Cold water alert!!! LOL...
It wasn't the best few days of practice for Dak Prescott coming off the big game against the Los Angeles Rams. I will be interested to see how he plays this week while working with the backup offensive personnel group. I believe we will find out a great deal about him as a quarterback during this game.
RB Morris will be very valuable for this team. I am not sure if you can call it break out as he has been a starter in this league, but he ain't done and he might be able to push Zeke in ways he never thought of before, and I mean that in a good way.
