Yes Goodell has that power. The suspension was levied after Goodell looked at the proof. The first judge slammed the proof as being flawed, but this appeals court judge just slammed the first judge's poor ruling. Now its a clusterfuck of clusterfuckery.

However Goodell's first initial ruling, based on the Wells report was that Brady was "generally aware". Seems a bit ridiculous to me to drop a 4 game hammer on Brady for doing something that other QB's have admitted to doing, IE; set the ball PSI to the level that they are most comfortable with.

As for this being a "a clusterfuck of clusterfuckery" it was just that the very minute that Chris Mortensen reported that 11 of the 12 balls were significantly under-inflated when in fact they weren't.

I gotta believe that Robert Kraft is kicking himself pretty hard for not challenging the initial penalty.

From what I'm reading in various articles today that seems unlikely. He has that option of course but based on today's ruling they think it's not very likely that another court would agree he needs or deserves another day in court.
