No way. The show really took off with S3 and S4.
The last batch of episodes in each of those seasons are just epic.

Am I the only one here that thinks the show has gotten *worse* over time? I think the first episode of BB was about as good as it ever got - not a criticism, it was spectacular, the best pilot ever IMO.
But the show has gotten goofy and increasingly implausible over the years. Some of the storylines and plots are absurd (train robbery anyone? giant magnet? giving 600K to Beneke so Walt is broke again?), Skylar became an over-dramatic annoying idiot, Walt is an almost cartoonish character who I can't believe for a second. If they wanted to make Walt change so dramatically - like polar opposite, 180 degree shift in the most fundamental parts of his personality - they should have stretched the timeline out twice as long. Instead he's this unrecognizable person like two years later. Its still entertaining enough, I'll watch, but I think the show was much better when Walt and Jesse were stumbling around like the somewhat foolish clowns they are, made for more genuine drama and unique situation.
Not judging 5 until it is over but 1-4 have each been better than the last.
If you look at BB as a whole, the second half of each season is pretty much always superior.
5A was just setting up the epic final episodes I believe.
It was a pretty good episode that just happened to contain the greatest Star Trek episode ever
