Heard was asked to remain in his role at RB, but to take some snaps at WR as well.

This was to get him on the field more.

I would have liked to see him as like a 3rd down type back.

They were trying to find ways to get him on the field because it's obvious that Abdullah has a death grip on the starting spot.

I gotta be honest I think Heard was the better back out of the two. I do love how fluid Ameer is but Heard can get those tough yards after contact.
