Still scratching my head over what the Braves saw in Bummer to give up what they did. Maybe they thought there were getting the '19-'22 version and simply dismissed his gawd awful '23 season. Now it's possible that none of the 5 players received in exchange will ever amount to much. But just collectively they should way more than match whatever Bummer contributes to the Braves. BTW, he hasn't exactly got off to a killer start. He already has a loss in one of his two relief appearances.
Bummer has unusually good stuff, but he goes long periods - not knowing where his pitches are going. Statistically - hits off Bummer don't have much exit velocity - but with his strong spin on the balls - the fielders don't get a good read on where it's going.
I actually think he has decent control but he is afraid to throw the ball in the zone. Batters bail his ass regularly by chasing the slider down and away lefties and down and in to righties
Hmmm - that's a valid view - kind of the opposite of the way I've been looking at it.
I bet the Braves -1.5 run line.
