Because he wasn't playing.

Butler was big game big play.

Pride costs.
One hit wonder.

Was coached up for that one miraculous play that ALL NE fans are greatful for.

He did very little the rest of his career.

Sorry he wasn't bigger than the team. His selfishness and week of bad practice put himself on the sideline.

No one knows if the outcome would've been any different had he played. He'd been getting burned all season as well.

I disagree.

All Butler had to do was make 1 or 2 plays.

And he never had a chance.
Maybe yes, maybe no.

He had a couple fantastic plays against Seattle. Some of the best plays in SB history.

Then he...he... he did what?

He was undrafted for a reason.
He was benched for a reason.
He was let loose from the Pats for a reason.
He was let loose from the Titans for a reason.
He was let loose from the Cardinals for a reason.
And the Pats again.

He may have made a difference, he may not have.

You stated they needn't be controlled, I am trying to determine what you feel or what term you feel is applicable
Well...A coach always needs to have some control over his or her players. Key word is some.

Most players though do not need to be controlled, as in not having a total control tyrant always looming over them.
There is a perfect balance, and that balance is different for every player.
As you know some people have total self control and some have zero.
Some are perfectly self controlled, until alcohol is involved.
For others it's their emotions. Get inside their head and they are done.

So good coaches can find that balance and personalize it.

All of that may be true but in the end the coaches control everything. The routes you run, your pay, your practice time, your play time, and to a large degree how you are allowed to interact and how discipline is doled out. Are the players professionals? Yes of course and if they act professionally they need not worry about being in the dog house.

4 fantastic plays versus Seattle.

Should have played.

Anybpody notice that Fitzpatrick tried to get Bourne to take a swing early in the game?
I guess all good CB's know he got ejected for fighting in joint practice???????

He was then immediately taken out of the game and Troy Brown had a discussion with him. Not sure if it was related to the mini-scuffle.

According to Mike Felger, Devonte parker is a favorite of Matt Patricia.

Hence, Patricia is pushing Mac Jones to throw to parker as often as possible. Every time Bourne shows up and plays well, it doesn't reflect well, especially with parker's poor play so far.

This causing problems in several areas. Patricia is calling passing plays on 3rd and 1 or 2 and Harris and Stevenson don't like it. It also slows down Patricia's play calling to Mac and yesterday Mac had to call two time outs because the play clock was winding down and matt was late getting the call in. Fact or fiction? Media speculation? Considering how well Bourne has been playing when given the chance, sounds completely logical.
