Boomer is an idiot in this case.

First and foremost you are a husband and father. Playing baseball is what you do, it's not who you are. And the argument that "this is what makes our money" is flat out stupid. He's going to make his money regardless, and missing a game here or there isn't going to cost him his job.

People need to get a grip on reality and life.

didn't he complete more passes to the other team the year before we drafted klingler?

and then he came back and beat out Jeff Blake

then he bitched at Mike Brown for not offering more money than the broadcast job

maybe he's just a bitch

I agree with Boomer

Really? You value your job more than your family? You should require your wife to have major surgery simply for convenience when it's not medically needed?

Do you have kids? Did you go to work while your wife was in labor having a child?

That's the one absurd comment he made sensationalized for a headline.

The general issue is that a player took a player three day paternity leave during the first week of the season. I have no issue with a player missing any game (Super Bowl, game 7 of the world series included) for the birth of their child. Once the child is born and both the mother and child are in good health, it's time to get back to work. You're an athlete making millions of dollars a year. Should AJ Green miss a Sunday game if his child is born on a Friday (with no issues or complications)? I don't think that he should miss it. Especially considering someone likely paid $500.00 in tickets so his family could watch the game

Ok, so you don't agree with what he said.

On a side note, the game will still go on even if AJ Green can't make it.

I agree with his general point. Do I agree with the sensationalized headline taken out of context? No

Also I realize that a game goes on without a particular player. I'm not sure what you meant by that

You're paying to watch the game. And that game will go on whether <insert name here> plays or not, regardless of whether the absence is due to an ankle sprain or the birth of said player's child.

"C-section before the season starts, I need to make opening day."

If anything, the headline ("...suggests C-section before season") was the opposite of sensationalizing or taking out of context. He didn't "suggest" it, he explicitly SAID it.

And his argument for it was even more absurd. "This is going to give my child ever opportunity in life. I'll be able to afford any college I want to send my kid to." HELLO! He could retire TODAY and do all that stuff. Missing 2-3 games which he is legally allowed will not change any of that. Nor will it cost him his job or contract. Not a single penny!

I never said a person is entitled to a refund if a player doesn't show up for a game. I'm saying that a player SHOULD make every effort to attend every game possible when it's in the best interest of their team. They make millions of dollars a year for just that reason.

Do I think Boomer is literally advocating C-sections so players don't miss baseball games. I'd lean towards no. The full context is that he's teamed with a shock jock and they mix sports and irreverent nonsense. Is a C-section this horrible, taboo subject for people. I don't find it to be one. I wouldn't have said it, but I'm not particularly offended by the comment either

But back to the actual topic, I think players should witness the birth of their child and when the mother and child are healthy and safe they should go back with their teams. That's just a personal opinion though. The player is obviously entitled to take the 3 days of partenity leave if they want them

You do know there is a pretty big difference between an NFL player missing one of sixteen games during a season and a baseball player missing two of one hundred and sixty two games of a MLB season, right? That is roughly the same as an NFL player missing the first 5 minutes of a game. The first two games of the baseball season don't mean a damn thing.

New York Mets Ticketing

Particularly for the fans in the $324.00 seats I'm sure. They should get their refund because the games mean nothing.

It's the principle rather than the actual boxscore or standings that's relevant imo.

It's the baseball regular season.... Guys get off days throughout the season even if they're healthy. So this dude got two of them for a good reason. I don't see the issue.

BS. The next time you have a kid, make sure you haul yourself back to work right after you witness the birth of your child and when the mother and child are healthy and safe. There are people that depend on your services. Oh yeah, and don't take any vacation days. That's selfish too.

If I was paid millions of dollar a year, worked six months a year (the rest of the time could be solely devoted to raising my child), and the job will afford me the right to retire at any point in my 30s when I could be a stay at home dad if I choose...

Unfortunately that's not my job. If that was my job I'd probably go back to work after seeing the birth of the child and was assured of my family's health and safety.
