That last play was a foul pure and simple. Does it get called if it's not Dayton in Dayton? Too bad

Hosed? the Dayton defender just put his hands up, Boise players jumped into him, a good no call.

What did the defender do that was a foul?

One of those announcers must be a graduate of Boise St. He was awful.

Refs swallow whistles all of the time at the end of the game. Everybody needs to stop acting like this only happened because it was Dayton @ Dayton.

And that "foul" was bullshit anyway. Shooter initiated contact. Defender was already back on the ground and guarding. Shooter barreled into him and tried to shove up a prayer.

I'd agree if the Dayton player hadn't left his feet. He did. That's a foul 100 times out of 100. It's why you shot fake in the first place.

If he got the shot off while the defender was in the air, I'd agree 100%, but he didn't and you're wrong.

It doesn't matter when the ball leaves the hand. The shot started when the Dayton guy was in the air and the contact did as well. We see that play 5 times a game in the post and all 5 times it's a foul. I'm all for letting players decide the game but officials have to make calls consistently. We all know if that play happens with 16 minutes to go it's called a foul. Dayton made big shots so I am not saying the w isn't deserved. I'm just saying it was a foul

not what I saw on my TV. The defender was back on the ground holding his hands up, then Marks jumped forward into the defender and threw it wildly toward the basket. It was a bad play they called

I can't even fathom you thinking that was a foul. You want to reward a player for not even making a real attempt at a shot, and you want to do it when the defender lands and goes straight up before the shooter even starts to move into him?!? That call would have been one of the worst calls of all time, whether it was the first play of the game or the last one

So you guys seriously think they don't call that a foul earlier in the game? If that's not a foul then the shot fake is pretty pointless considering what we saw was the exact result you are looking for when you do it.. lol

they call it every time when the defender is either still in the air or leaning into the offensive player. he was standing straight up as marks tried to lean into him and still barely made contact. it would have been a brutal call but the refs made several of those all night

A shot fake is meant to get your defender in the air. It's your responsibility as the offensive player (if your intention is to draw the foul) to get the contact WHEN THE DEFENDER ISN'T IN LEGAL GUARDING POSITION. He didn't, and it was the right call because of that.

A bad referee would have called that a foul. It's more of a call you see in high school bailing out a bad shot. In D-1 college basketball, no, that's not a foul. The Dayton player never once crossed his space of verticality to swipe at the ball or block the shooter's shot. The incidental contact was initiated by the Boise jump shooter.

Correction: 99 times out of 100.
