I'll go with Star -- Mostly because I don't think he makes it this long either.

Vance, you and your brother are both welcome to come back and participate in the mock. It's a board mock that means everyone's opinion is welcomed.

I have no personal issue with you per se, though as I said, sometimes you're too sensitive and find offense where none was meant. It is wearisome to get a few picks, then read two pages of insults. I've participated in several mocks, including a fantastic and organized one on Twitter, for 7 full rounds. No voting, no arguing. Issue two is my own, and not reflective of anybody else on here. I have done my own research, formulated my own opinions and draft board. It's hard to leave things up to ESPNs rankings in the event of a tie, bc I wholly disagree with them. Arguing is cool. Name-calling and useless bickering is a waste of my time.

Wah wah wah.

Why don't you give us your draft board and we'll leave ties up to that.

Childish.

You're a monumental douchebag. That's why I chose not to participate in the draft, to avoid conflict. I forgot that you try to create it whenever possible with backhanded jabs that you can try to deny later on. Fuck you and your laughable attempts to goad me into long, useless arguments. If I want your opinion, I'll ask you for it. Otherwise, get a damn life.

Now to be fair I thought Grey was trying to be facetious and you took his comments personal. Honestly a lot of the arguing on the board can be traced back to your brother. If someone doesn't agree with his opinion he starts in on the name calling. You may not see it because you're family but I think others do. And if you two don't want to participate, that's cool, at least I know I attempted to extend an olive branch.

It's fine August. I didn't drop out just to spite you. It's easier to avoid arguments and drama. I'm following along. I have no grudge with you. I'll post my own mock and welcome your thoughts on it later on.

I'd be interested in anyone posting 'their' draft board and showing me how much better they are than ESPN. I'm not always a big fan of "the worldwide leader," but I'm willing to make a gentleman's bet that nobody here can significantly beat the ESPN/Scouts ratings when it comes to what actually happens in the draft.

I disagree. I may not, but I'm certain that there are others, and I'm not sure how you'd even measure the accuracy. The point is, I trust my own eyes rather than just blindly say, welp, ESPN says ____, so it must be true.

I'd just like to know what metrics folks are using when they say one person is "full of shit" or how one website is good or bad. I suppose you could use easy metrics - How many picks does someone get right in a mock, but that's probably not the cleanest way to assess things as the draft is fairly dynamic in how things change according to early picks/trends. I suppose you could also try to make a ranking system of prospects, arrange a points system for where they are selected vs. where they are ranked and then determine who's rankings are most efficient. However, this probably doesn't work too well either as just because a prospect as ranked as the 12th best prospect, it doesn't necessarily mean they will be picked in the top 15. There are obviously other factors, such as how deep the draft is in certain positions, the value teams place on particular positions, etc.

What irks me though is how you guys (and there are several of you) go after each other about how 'right' you are about prospects and 'your mocks' vs the other mocks. Without a way of falsifying or showing that someone is right or wrong, all you're basically doing is resorting to petty arguments about shit you're bound to get wrong. Which is all totally cool if you enjoy such things. I'm just wondering if there is a way to be more objective about the whole thing.

I can't imagine how anyone could possibly have a job and still have the time to do that much research on all available draft prospects. I know I would never try. I just subscribed to Pro Football Focus to better keep up with the NFL teams, and their strengths and weaknesses, and that alone requires way too much time that I don't have. But I do appreciate all the work you guys do, even if your opinions are a little too edgy for my taste, and a little too confrontational.

To be fair, you had one hell of a mock draft.

I'm thinking about turning pro. My only qualms against it would be the impending paternity suits that would be sure to follow my new found fame and status.

Well, I would like to finish this one to see how the board does collectively.

However, I would be open to a board mock individually like the NCAA tournament bracket.

Basically, you take all 32 1st round picks, and say what player each team will draft in the first round. This way you do not have to worry about trades really, other than teams without a 1st trading back up into the first to get someone.

Basically, here are the teams picking in the first round, who do you think they will wind up with, regardless of draft position. This way, if you think Philly will trade up to #1 and nab Geno Smith, you can just say, Philly, Geno Smith. This way if they trade up to #1 and get him, you are right. If he falls to #4 and they pick him at #4, you are still right.

With the cost of college players entering the draft, it makes it much more attractive to trade up and down in the first round now, so there could be as many as 6+ trades in the first round this year. That is too hard to calculate.

However, if you know what teams are picking, about where they are picking, and you are using some insight thinking that team will trade up for a certain player, you can just say, Cincinnati Bengals, Jarvis Jones! There is no way in shit that happens, because it would require Cincinnati to trade up into the top 5-8 picks, but you get the idea.

For every team and player you connect correctly, you get 1 point. The person with the most points at the end of the first round wins the draft pool for the board. Sound like fun?

It's just a personal choice. Obviously I haven't studied every single player in the draft. Nobody has that isn't being paid full time to do so. I have watched the top prospects and know which ones I like and which ones I don't. If I disagree, and say I watched the tape and voice my disagreement, it's inevitably going to start an argument. Therefore, I'll just watch.

I'd be willing to do that.
