Fallen on hard times. Just name a few powerhouse programs that either dominated in the 90s, 80s, 70s or even further back that haven't been good or won anything in today's present time

Army was a blue blood at one time, believe it or not.

Three Heisman winners. Three national titles.

Don't know if you meant to go that far back though.

Minnesota claims like 6 NCs I think. Pitt has a good number as well.

Throw in Syracuse, Arkansas, Notre Dame, and Minnesota.

The 50s and 60s Syracuse teams had plenty of NFL Hall of Famers on them

Notre Dame was in the title game recently so I'm not sure they qualify.

Cal, Arkansas, UCLA, USC

USC has played in two title games and won one in the new millennium. Don't think they qualify either. We're talking teams who haven't done anything since the 90's.

Some of the programs I remember being great during 70's-90's who haven't been major players in quite awhile.

Nebraska-last BCS bowl was the 2001 season
Tennessee-last BCS bowl was the 1999 season
BYU-never made a BCS bowl
Miami-last BCS bowl was the 2003 season
Washington-last BCS bowl was the 2000 season
Arizona St-never made a BCS bowl
UCLA-last BCS bowl was the 1998 season
Texas A&M-last BCS bowl was the 1998 season

We've had our fair share of BCS appearances, but blown out in all of them.

I think we qualify

The bluest of the blue bloods: Harvard, Yale, and Princeton! :suds: 62 national championships between them... just none in the last half-century.

I'd have to agree with that. The 2012 season is the anomaly compared to most of their last 12-15 seasons. Seem to have found the right coach, though.
