definitely be a good game to watch the front 7 (I should probably say 5/6 as we'll probably be in dime/nickel most of the game). But really want to see this d-line getting after a team that should be mostly passing, shedding blocks and getting to the QB. if they struggle getting off this crappy o-line of wyoming, the UCLA game will be painful.

Is it just me or is anybody else feeling good about where this team is at as an entire unit? Maybe it's just because I'm sick of all the talk and ready for an actual game, or maybe I just have scarlet colored glasses on but it seems like this team is coming together more than in the previous couple of years. I like the attitude. Hopefully we can see some swagger on the field this year.

Proof is in the pudding, but I'm excited but what I have seen and heard. GBR

I'm actually curious if the change in blackshirt policy didn't come from above and had nothing to do with Bo 'growing' as a coach. It's no mystery the issue of the blackshirts only being awarded 'as a unit' has been a source of critique on this board and others. At one point I posted that if I were AD I'd order Bo to either restore the traditional policy or hit the fucking road, because what he's been doing the last few years obviously wasn't working. Even Suh didn't get a blackshirt until the rest of the unit did halfway into the season.

I wonder if some boosters didn't put some pressure on Eichorst?

Bo also changed policy on appointing team captains.

ie...Is it Bo's idea or is he doing it begrudgingly? Money talks.

I think that gonna be what everyone will be watch d wise is how VV and company handle the run

Unfortunately Wyoming is a spread team do we won't see pound the rock so to speak but we can see how they handle the pass and spread formations.

Well, you're never going to know without being on the inside. I like to think it's coming from Bo. He's said it in interviews, that he thinks it's what this team needs. I actually think it's what this team needed the past couple of years. True leaders, guys that are going to take charge and kick some other kids in the butts. As said they need to prove it on the field, but i think it can only make this team stronger.

I doubt the boosters have any say. I hope they don't because if they can do that, we have serious systemic issues. That would be disturbing. TO would never stand for something like that. If boosters are giving ultimatums, they're the ones who need to hit the fucking road. Coaches coach, players play, boosters shell out cash and keep their lips zipped.

Boosters could be testing the new AD.. Seeing what they can get away with, but I know TO would never tell Bo what to do let alone let the boosters tell him how to run his team.

I mean I understand they have influence from a production standpoint in terms of wins and losses. They can be dissatisfied with the final product and make waves, but in no way should they have influence on how the coaches run their team. This isn't the Dallas cowboys. There is no jerry jones here.

Maybe Bo really has figured out this positive rep thing, there was the harlem shake, team prank, his appearances at disney. So instead of lamenting the fan base and tradition of the Blackshirts now he is embracing it and using it to his advantage, it's just flat out stupid not to. Do anything and everything to gain traction nationally in regards to recruiting unrelated to the actual game itself

For T.O. or Eichorst to tell Bo how to coach his team is one thing they wouldn't do. To allow him to shit on long standing traditions that are an identity of the program is another, and they are well within their right to tell him what to do regarding blackshirt policy.

Pederson had all the portraits of Husker all-americans removed and they were found in a closet after he was ousted. Perleman claimed he knew nothing about the goings on until boosters quit donating and the best fundraiser resigned. Money talks.

Jed even posted a thread about a booster opening his 'big mouth' about tne blowouts.

Could be alittle of both

bo wanted to change things up or him catching wind about boosters not happy about certain things. I was on bo side about making them earn it but after the blowouts clearly that idea isn't working to well.

We will never find out but I do believe bo has alittle bit of pressure to start producing better season and finish strong. That one booster spilled the beans alittle and I know they aren't happy with the meltdowns and whipping husker have taken in losses

If bo dropped his ego and stubbornness Nebraska could be that top10 again, we are seeing alot of freshman about to make big impact before bo wasn't ok with freshman playing unless they were ready in his opinion.

Who knows keep the changes coming if it helps and works

No. They ate not within their rights to tell him how to assign blackshirts. That affects team chemistry and personnel decisions, so I completely disagree with that notion. What's next? They gonna start telling Bo what sches to run? How to gameplan? This is dangerous rhetoric.

Sure. They can bitch and moan about the FINAL product. They can complain about the wins and losses, but they should never be able to affect HOW that final product is achieved.

I mean I'm not saying its beyond the realm of possibility that some boosters made threats to pull their donations, but I doubt Bo would cater to those kinds of demands. I think with the way the season ended, he knew if he didn't show willingness to change, then it would be a sticking point if things go south again. He prob figured out it was more of a distraction and hindrance NOT handing out the Blackshirts than it would be to hand them out before the season.

That shiz is not at all what I said or implied. :L

Telling Bo to restore the blackshirt tradition, (ie..starters get them) is not telling Bo who will get them.
Obviousluy the AD and chancellor are not going to tell Bo what schemes to run or how to game plan.

The blackshirts are a tradition that snotbubbles has no right to use his ego and stubbornness to fuck with. He's well within his right to say who gets them, but not to play games with the tradition. Should the N be taken off the helmet because snotbubbbles doesn't think they're playing up to expectations?

The #1 defensive unit for Nebraska are called the Blackshirts. They wear blackshirts in practiice. Plain and simple. If you don't have 11 solid #1''s figured out, give them to those you know are #1's. Your stubborn/egotistical idea of what a blackshirt should be is proven FAIL. So GTFO, Cosgrove version 2.

It wouldn't be Bo catering to the boosters. It would be Bo doing what his bosses (Perleman and Eichorst) are telling him to do. Perelman and Eichorst care about funding more than product. If the product does not meet expectations then funding suffers.
Judging by the last three years of blackshirt production under his policy, it's a battle that snotbubbles can't win. Coach them up and quit fucking with tradition.

If this were the case Bo will be resigning after this season, or as Bo would put it "Couldn't pass up on a great opportunity somewhere else"
