I'm really bothered by the Lovie Smith firing. The guy went 10-6 in possibly the hardest division in football and gets fired for it?

He's been there for a long time, sometimes there are diminishing returns on coaching methods, need to change the voice. He'll be fine, probably zero problem getting a job somewhere, he's got a very nice resume.

Agreed. Crappy QBs, a bad offensive line, and injuries aren't Whisenhunt's fault. I'm sure he'll land on his feet somewhere.

Anyone think we will see Roman as the HC of a team with Alex Smith as his QB next year?
Guess it depends on which team he would go to. If he went to the Chiefs, Cards, Raiders, Jags, Bills, or Eagles it would be feasible to see them go after a veteran QB like Alex. A team like the Chargers or Bears though are pretty set at QB.

Jets talk to Bill Polian about general manager job

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. – Before the New York Jets hired a search firm to look for a new general manager, the team spoke to former Indianapolis Colts executive Bill Polian, according to a person briefed on the talks between Polian and the organization.

The person, who spoke to USA TODAY Sports on condition of anonymity, said Polian expressed to the team he wasn't interested in taking the job.

Polian, currently an analyst for ESPN, would neither confirm nor deny he spoke to the Jets about the job when contacted Sunday evening.
