Billy Butler

Does anyone else have Billy Butler taking up a spot on their bench?

We're only 2 days into May but I'm not sure how much longer I hold onto this guy.

Not trying to be bold, or blunt, but he was nowhere near any of my draft boards. I would sell him for pretty much anything.

I drafted him when I panicked looking at available 1B.. You can imagine my sheer disgust when I realized he wasn't a 1B any longer. (Yeah that's right I got a little flustered on that pick)
At this point, I'm strongly considering cutting ties with him Sunday night, and I'd do it for pretty much anyone on the wire of an average 12 team league.

His value lies in leagues that use actual DH's. Which should be standard IMO. It's not like there aren't enough to go around. Here's a list of hitters who were slotted DH at least 15 times in 2013, which should make them eligible the next year in most leagues.....

4. Mauer
5. Pujols
6. Victor Martinez
7. Trumbo
8. Butler
9. Santana
10. Crisp
11. Josh Hamilton
12. Cespedes
13. Soriano

19. Swisher
20. Joyce
21. Dunn

... and another dozen scrubs. Shouldn't this be a position in fantasy too??

Not only should it not be standard. . But should be abolished all the way around. .Fantasy and IRL. But that's a discussion for a different forum.

Haha, I did the same thing. I assumed he was a 1b and needed one at that point wasn't til after I selected him that I realized he wasn't. Hence, I'm suffering at that position and am willing to trade for one......but no one seems to wanna trade in the B league.

I was considering adding Butler to my list of players to dump this week. His problems go back to last year when his GB% went over 50 and his FB% started to drop.
His FB% this year is 21.7% (down from 28.8% in 2012) and his GB% is at 60.2% (up from 53.1% last year and 47.3% in 2012). That's great if you're a speed guy but Butler barely has enough speed to get to first.

His LD% is also down from 23.9% in 2012 to 18.1% this year. His BB spiked last year but this year he's on his normal 8%. His average fly ball distance was down to 275.81 ft. last year.
The average should come back up, but I'm not sure how much different he'll be than Chris Johnson as far as the rest of his numbers go.

Thankfully I snagged Morneau towards the end and he's paned out this far. . But still. .geesh
