the Bills and the county/state have reached a formal agreement:
- new stadium, basically across the street from the current one
- Bills guaranteed to stay in Buffalo for the next 30 years
- minimum 60,000 seats
- could be ready as soon as 2026
- combination of public/private funding
- stadium design not finalized, but expected to be open-air, similar to Dallas where overhangs partially shield fans from the elements

Good for everyone. It's a team in a brutal climate, but with a loyal and devoted fanbase. The team doesn't want to move, and the fans want to keep them. With a good team now, they can take advantage of the weather, a big home-field advantage.

Fair-weather cities need domes to keep their fair-weather fans in.

Not sure why they are limiting capacity but wonder if that means they will have more standing room tickets..

The capacity is being adjusted to what they expect based on previous attendance.

There isn't any "standing room" at the current stadium, and I don't expect any at the new one.

When I first started going to games about 40 years ago, IIRC the official stadium capacity was something like 80,020.

The stadium was renovated 25-30 years ago, including upgrading the seats in the lower bowl. The stadium capacity was reduced to closer to 75,000.

The number I've seen tossed around for the new stadium is 65,000. Buffalo has one of the smallest populations among NFL teams. I'm guessing the stadiums in the other smaller markets, such as Indy and Cincinnati, have a similar capacity.

Glad the Bills aren't moving. They have a loyal fanbase.

Indy is 67 expandable to 70 so you are right there.

Sitting in the snow & wind doesn't seem to bother many cold weather fanbases. Are the Lions afraid to play in cold weather? :heh:

There are still Viking fans who think the stadium should be an outdoor stadium. They call themselves purists. I call them people who dont have tickets to the games and/or have never sat outside for 4 hours in MN in January.
I turned down tix to a New Years Lions roadie at Lambeau one time.

No regerts. I’m not sitting outside in the winter for four fucking hours watching other people do shit.

The Gophers building their place without a roof makes sense. No home games after Thanksgiving weekend. But not NFL.

For 850 million you would think you’d be getting an upgrade. At least put a retractable roof on it.

You’re not going to throw yourself off the top of your mini-van and through a folding table in your skin tight Willis MaGahee jersey either?

Pussy.

The fact that NFL games can be postponed or even cancelled due to lightning is reason enough to equip every new stadium w a retractable roof.

Maybe they don't want a roof on the new stadium?
