Lots of reports he's being dealt to the Niners. And as expected, the Bills will get next to nothing in return for their #1 WR (Reports say it's a 4th round pick)

For over a decade they haven't had a #2 WR option that was legit. The ONLY thing good about the Watkins fiasco was it looked like that could be over. But no...(giant) if Watkins is the #1 talent they think, they are then back to the same ol' problem.

GM Whaley must be drunk. Or trying to drive the team into the ground further than anyone thought possible.

It's a 4th next year (replacing the one we just lost), but if Stevie plays well enough, it could be a 3rd... that's pretty good value for a near 30 year old slot receiver with a bad back.

This trade is a good one, IMO.

Disagree. This leaves us without a proven NFL WR on the entire roster. Sammy Watkins hasn't played a snap yet. EJ needs weapons because, well, he's just not that good.

I don't consider "getting back" a draft pick that should have never been given away in the first place part of a "good trade" unless it's the First Round one. The Bills must be the easiest team in NFL history to bully in negotiations.

I wish we would have traded him before the draft maybe gotten a 3rd possibly a second. That being said they have Mike Williams and Woods as the #2. So if Sammy can become a dominate #1 it's a good trade

There will always be Bills fans justifying every stupid thing they do. There's a reason the entire NFL is laughing at Buffalo (way harder than they usually do too). It's not because everyone else is stupid and the Bills brass are a bunch of unconventional geniuses with the rings to prove it.

It's amazing people still come to the games and a testament to how much the BUF fans just love football. They deserve a team and they deserve one that isn't a complete joke. Not sure that will ever happen again.

How did GM Whaley get this job? "Having once taken a dump in a Steelers bathroom" must be all that is required.

I had this reaction when we traded Lee Evans for a 4th rounder....I'm going to wait before making judgement

Love Stevie, but he is going to be $6M plus against the cap after this season and is no longer the #1 WR. He has been a surprise as a late day 3 pick, but where does he play with Watkins, Woods, and Williams? If Stevie is that great for the Niners, they'll get a 3rd round pick for him next season, which is good value.

That was Nix and he is dumber then a post. Also we shouldn't have drafted him in the first place.

well that is true, sir

how sad is it that before Buddy Nix, Lee Evans was actually one of our better first round picks?

We had some many busts

Aaron Maybin before Orakpo :L

I wouldn't have given him up for that little. He may not be able to put a team on his back, but he's productive and even assuming you get the third, it's not enough in my mind.

All because Mike Williams was a bust and they didnt want to take some one from Texas. Though we also drafted Wood Levitre and Byrd that same year so overall it was a decent draft. Also Russ Brandon was running it and he is all together a joke.

Well, that pick received from the Stevie trade was turned into Bryce Brown today. 3 headed monster at RB, insurance for Freddie's old legs.

Stevie Johnson for Bryce Brown is a massive upgrade. This will be huge in 2015 and beyond!

and there will always be the ones who have absolutely nothing positive to say... ever, even when it's clear when a smart move is made.

LOL -- absolutely ludicrous! to think you can get a 2nd rounder for Stevie Johnson and his back/hamstring problems is pretty freaking funny!

Please list the recent moves made by the Bills that fall under the category "clear when a smart move is made". These should be moves that are so obviously brilliant or even decent that there wouldn't be room for debate.

Signing Drew Brees would be an example.

Stevie Johnson for Bryce Brown.
Brandon Spikes
Mike Williams for a 6th rounder.
Not paying Levitre the money he thinks he deserves.
Not paying Jairus Byrd more money than any other safety in the league!
Moving Aaron Williams from corner to safety.

You aren't being objective if you think Stevie Johnson for Bryce Brown isn't debatable as a good move. Our #1 WR (granted with injury issues) for a 3rd RB when we already have two elite guys. Yeah, I think that's debatable.

"Not paying Levitre the money he thinks he deserves." Okay, then who is replacing Levitre at his position? It's one thing not to overpay a guy...it's another to do it and not have a clear upgrade or status quo guy at the position ready.

"Not paying Jarius Byrd more money than any other safety in the league." Is this because they can't..or won't? And anyways, same question about Levitre applies here. Do we have an upgrade? No, we don't. Losing Byrd hurts.

Mike Williams for a 6th rounder looks good without much debate, but we'll have to see. Williams won't have to contribute much to make this one worth it, but he is a volatile guy that could prove to be a negative in a lockerroom.

I'd agree signing Brandon Spikes (right now) looks like a good move not subject to much debate.

So I'll give you Spikes and Williams. No way on the rest.
