Ole Hobs had us prepared for this last night. Blaming all failures on the fact that Zampese ran the offense in the offseason.... Apparently Lazor is a genius - He just needs to run his own stuff.

The irony of course being that two years ago, Hobs was hyping up Ken Zampese’s promotion. Saying how he’d been groomed for years for this opportunity, how close he was with Dalton, blah blah blah..

Now that Zampese is gone, and Lazor is part of ML 3.0, everything is being blamed on Zampese. Lazor being flaunted as the new messiah. Nevermind the fact the offense still finished dead last in the NFL regardless of who was calling plays.

More of the same. Lazor isn’t anything special. He’s cheap. That’s all that matters.

Yeah..... I mean, I think Lazor could probably score a QB coaching position. He helped make Tannehil servicable for a year or so. But, he's not getting an OC job again anytime soon. Fired in Miami - Last place offense in Cincy.

Not sure what to make of it.

On the one hand, the Bengals probably aren't losing anyone of consequence with regards to compensation picks. Not sure what sort of compensation Eifert would be worth given that he's made of glass. He was a 1st rounder and a pro-bowler, so I guess that's complicated. Regardless, we know the Bengals say they don't like FA because they love 4th round comp picks. There might not be any to get this year, so this might be the year to put our toes in the water.

On the other hand, when the Bengals talk about free agents they are normally talking about 2nd tier type of players. Bobbie Williams, John Thorton, Kevin Minter type players. Nothing wrong with these guys, but probably not immediate upgrades unless it occurs on the O-line, where Kramer might be an upgrade at LT.

Every now and then we go for the over-the-hill, others don't want the headache superstar.... Warren Sapp anybody? TO?

The Brown family has spoken. The scapegoats have been named. The failures of the past two seasons are being placed on Ken Zampese and Paul Alexander.

Throw in the yearly bullshit tease of being “active” in FA, and all hope is restored. Super Bowl here we come. Everyone renew your season tix.

This season has never been about this season, it's about the 50th season. Keep looking at film of Kenny and Boomer almost making it. don't look at the current team. yea....

Who's gonna play the grand piano in the locker room now?! Or is that part of Alexander's severance?

The Bengals have had 2 line coaches in all of my years of watching them play football.

We should all be so fortunate to have job security like the Bengal coaching staff.

I actually think our offensive line did much much better once Obuehi, Fisher and Smith got hurt. We actually had some running lanes and Dalton wasn't running for his life all the time. Once they turned around the offensive line, the overall team did pretty well. I am not advocating for Marvin, because I wish he was replaced, I was just thinking if we replace Marvin and Lazor, we are not that far off once we fix that tackle situation. Have one of those WR's step up and get our freaking defense back healthy. Lost so many LB's in the last few weeks and we still knocked two teams out of the playoffs.

how do these coaches watch film and not see that the backups are better than the starters?
it's insane.

This is exactly the type of shit we used to do in the 90s though..... Suck for more than half the season. Have a few guys get hurt, shuffle the deck a little and start sucking a little less. Us fans confuse 'sucking a little less,' for actually being competent. We're not. If we roll out that same line and same schemes again this year, we'll have the exact same problems. Sure, we might not be historically (for our franchise) bad, like we were last year. But we'd be in the bottom half or third of all offenses. That's for certain.

It's fair to say that Lazor wasn't given a true chance given that Alexander was apparently in charge of the running game.
