So is the game postponed or shit canned completely?
Postponed. UF certainly wants to play this game and has proposed playing it Nov 19th or the first weekend of December.

It's not about the weather on Saturday, it's about having to recover from today. You're inviting people into a potentially dangerous situation - all for a football game. People come in advance.
Sunday would have seemed doable to me though.
Sunday I heard the issue was not having enough police force for the game since they would all be looking for survivors

UF by far.
They have more to gain from not playing this game, and LSU did try and get all this sorted by giving FLA options.
Not to mention, last time I saw, the weather for Saturday in Gainsville was supposed to actually be good, although that's on the SEC more than anyone.
Well why would they be free on Saturday?
The SEC cancelled the game, before realizing that the weather was actually going to be bad today. And just because they use it as an excuse, doesn't mean it's the truth.
UF has more to gain by not getting the single biggest payday of the year and what was slated to be by far the biggest recruiting weekend of the year?
Let me show you what the weather looks like in Florida now.
Vilano Beach
The ICW is the Intracoastal waterway for those who don't know.
St Augustine
Jacksonville
Daytona
There are over a million residents of Florida without power right now. Gainesville is the designated staging area for first responders and other state personnel. Hotels in and around the area are filled with evacuees. State personnel will not be available to work a game on Sunday. It would be idiotic to even try given these circumstances. Delaying by one day is not going to change the situation. Some people are just dumb.
The first weekend in December is the SEC Championship game, and they can't move that.
UF wants this game cancelled, and it makes since why. As long as UF can beat UGA, and UT loses 2 games, UF goes to Atlanta whereas UT goes home.

They certainly CAN move than and HAVE moved that in the past. They could just do so again.
UF does not want the game cancelled - that's idiotic. UF stood to make millions of dollars. It makes no "since" (sic) to think UF would want the game cancelled when it stands to lose all that money.
Not saying that we shouldn't, but why not play in Atlanta, or a more 'neutral' site?
Listen, I've got a close friend that lives near Gainsville, so I understand the tragedy, or at least I can sympathize.
I do think UF is playing a bit of hardball. I'm not sure why everyone didn't just head to Atlanta and play the game in the Dome? Was it even offered?
The SEC has a major insurance policy so UF wouldn't lose any money.
Georgia and South Carolina were thinking about using the dome. Besides UF was not eager to give up a huge home date - the biggest of the year - a home date on which it stood to earn millions of dollars. Not one school in America would want to give that up.
The game can and should be played at a later date. Just push the SECC game back a week and play it on the first week of December as has been done before ie 2001.
The insurance policy does not come close to covering all the losses.
UF at the all you can eat bag of dicks buffet and about to get kicked out....
