"We (#B1G) don't want to be like the SEC in any way, shape or form."

Bielema last summer

Well they 100% succeeded in that this year. Much more like the BE than the SEC.

The only real thing I can think of here is he might be positioning himself for Iowa in a few years?

He won 68 games in 7 years; the Badgers have been ranked top 16 four times in those years; his team has three conference championships. He's already qualified for Iowa.

On a different note, scout.com is reporting that the barn hired Gus Malzahn

Scouts is no longer report that but it is on autigers.com

I don't think he survives Arky more than 3 years

The fanbase will have higher expectations than I think he will deliver, and he's not as aggressive a recruiter, given his comments about Meyer's tactics.

This is enough to bring me home from my SportsHoopla holiday.

I'm pretty stunned by this, but we'll see what happens. This can go one of two directions. If we get Paul Chryst back and he can reassemble the old crew, this team has improved greatly. Bielema is a solid recruiter and a decent defensive mind. Paul was the brains behind the explosive offenses that built our last two Rose Bowl runs. The fans knew this, which is probably why he left. Even at our heyday, Chryst got the respect from our fans. It's time to give him the official reigns to our program.

I'm honestly curious if Alvarez was considering hiring Chryst either way. Bielema was considered a major candidate for Notre Dame when they hired Kelly. Their sources put it out there that he was who they wanted if Brian decided to stay at Cincy. Bielema wouldn't even interview. To take the Arkansas job just seems bizarre.
