Best:

Oklahoma State/A&M - enjoy seeing these two play again
NY6 outside of the Orange bowl
Auburn/Minnesota
Games after Jan 2nd leading up to the Natty
Battle of the Western directional schools (Western Kentucky vs Western Michigan)

Worst:

The Orange bowl

might be biased but we're screwed having to play Petersen in his last game

Tennessee's bowl complaints switching games, originally they were rumored to play Va Tech and Kentucky/Indiana were going to play. Really would have enjoyed seeing both of those games because it involved nearby teams that never play each other

Eastern Michigan playing Pitt - Really odd that Eastern Michigan, one of the lowest teams in the Mac Standings to make a bowl, gets rewarded with a P5 opportunity right down the road? Central Michigan and Western Michigan both got good bowl matchups but I'd think they'd much rather get a shot at a beatable P5 school near home.

What about staying in the top 5 after being boat-raced.

That's true...But LSU did that to everybody they played.

Plus who would they put there? Oregon has lost to a 3-loss Auburn team and a 5 loss Az St team.

Maybe Penn St at #5. Difficult to put Florida over Georgia because of the head-to-head. Couldn't put Bama
over Auburn for the same reason or Utah over Oregon. Baylor could have been a possibility but it would be
difficult to move them up 2 spots after a loss. (Even in OT).

I just believe the committee was pretty set as were all of us on who the top 4 were and in reality, it really
doesn't matter who #5 or below is. (Unless you are striving for a at-large berth in one of the elite 6
Bowls. Then you need to be #12.

Georgia was the best guess they could come up with.

FWIW, Iowa State beat Texas, only lost @ Baylor by 2 and @ OU by 1, and has 8 players in the All Big Xii 2 deep. So, if you are worried about them being a quality opponent (even though the record is mediocre) - I think you will be pleasantly surprised and enjoy seeing Purdy, Hall, Kolar, Jones, etc. play. Looking forward to the match-up myself!

it's kind of a trap game. the cyclones have played everyone tough, are dangerous, yet notre dame really has nothing to gain from beating them.

They gain a win if they win. I'd think a W and a Trophy to finish 11-2 would be cool. Plus, they will be able to say they beat next year's Big Xii Champion! :)

They gain a win if they win. Considering ND's Bowl history since Holtz retired, I'd think a W and a Trophy to finish 11-2 would be cool. Plus, they will be able to say they beat next year's Big Xii Champion! :)

that is incentive, but if they win, they'll likely not move up much in the rankings, and if they lose, will fall out of the top 20.

if i were ND's coach i'd be disappointed.

Then, they shouldn't lose! :) BTW, I know it's not an even match-up, but they have put themselves in this boat. If they were a full playing member of the ACC, they would be in the Orange (instead of UVA) vs. Florida.

Sometimes, they play up record wise (Like 6-4-1 ND vs. 11-1 Colorado in the Fiesta Bowl in the early 90s), and sometimes they play down record wise like this year. Either way, hopefully, Iowa State can give them a game.

a 16 team playoff would be much better than a bunch of meaningless games.

#1 Rankings don't pay.

When they are recruiting those kids, they tell them the goal is to play in a bowl game, not just high ranking bowl games. Too bad they don't actually join a conference and have a chance to play for a championship, but that's on them. Also, this year, they have a very weak 10-2.
