Best first season of a show

I came across an article listing shows whose first season was its best. . 15 TV Shows Where the First Season Is the Best . Interesting read. Thought it would make for a good discussion.


For me, three season 1's came to mind is being outstanding. None made the article.

1. Alias. (While Lost took #1 in the article, I contend it wasn't even JJ Abrams' #1 first season. Alias was. And the series premier was incredible.)

2. Stranger Things

3. Money Heist

If I was going for comedies in the last decade first season I'd go with
(1) Brockmeyer
(2) After Life
If we're going back further the first season of Chapelle is hard to beat

the x files 1st season was the best season,imo.it introduced us to a whole new take on scary and entertaing stories.

Prison Break is definitely the poster child to this.

True Detective too but thats anthology so a bit different.

Homeland would be another with 1st season as probably a clear top choice.

Heroes went down hill FAST. But the decline started before the end of the first season.

Dexter had a GREAT first season, but it remained very good for 3 or 4 seasons.

Walking Dead was good through the first half of S3. Once Durabont left, the show went down FAST.

Blacklist was always contrived. But after the first few seasons, they just went to the “Is he her father?” WAY too much. And they had false-answered about 3 times every season. I stopped caring by about S3.

breaking bad was a different type of show in season 1.it was a good season but not the best season.

I would say blind spot was up there as well.

They used a weak ending and just lost me

Wrong. They have answered it AT LEAST 25 times in the history of the show.

They always retro-fogged it. But they made it 100% clear that the answer was […] only to flip it within the next 3 episodes.

Very similar to Heroes. Heroes had face/heel turns every week that they lost their power and made the show next to unwatchable.

Yeah I just moved on after 2 seasons

The wife and I really liked Castle.
