The reason I loved this: headshots can't be eliminated. There could be suspensions out the wazoo for them, fines, etc., but cheapshots happen in games, head shots happen because it's a highly physical and fast game. BUT, the league can work to detect those that are most susceptible to them. I mean, I can't pretend I know what happens in an NHL training room...but I know what happens in a college training room. Every athlete that walks in the door is given an IMPACT test (it's a baseline concussion diagnostic test). Basically, the IMPACT test asks you questions that focus on short term and long term memory, as well as testing your basic awareness. It's difficult, but every athlete should do it. I played freaking volleyball in HS and I did it. That needs to be utilized, they have access to CT/MRI scans so they can constantly monitor this stuff...it needs to happen. The focus is on repercussions, but it clearly needs to shift to prevention.
