No love for Stiff Little Fingers?

Obviously not the biggest release of '79, but a pretty important one IMO.

3 very good Jazz albums from 1979....

American Garage -- Pat Metheny Group

Morning Dance -- Spyro Gyra

Splendido Hotel -- Al Di Meola

* I listed these 3 along w/ a few other jazz LP's earlier in this thread...but just wanted to give them another shout out and due props, because of their excellence.

I like Goodbye Stranger, & Take The Long Way Home.

Personally, "Crime of the Century" was a great ST album. While I did see the ST 79' tour in Potland...this is my fav ST song from that album (2010 version)...

...and the 1974 Album version below

some not mentioned but still in my favorites ...

Cheap Trick at Budokan
Graham Parker Squeezing out the Sparks
Neil Young & Crazy Horse Rust Never Sleeps
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers Damn the Torpedos
Frank Zappa Sheik Yerbouti
Thin Lizzy Black Rose
The Boom Town Rats The Fine Art of Surfacing
The Alan Parsons Project EVE
Molly Hatchet Flirtin' With Disaster
John Cougar self titled
Lou Reed The Bells
Manfred Mann Angel Station
Bad Company Desolation Angels
ZZ Top Deguello
Terry Allen Lubbock (On Everything) ... and yes I know, it's not rock but damn

I was never a fan of Breakfast in America ... too overplayed like all of Boston's LPs ... Crime of the Century was a much better album ... you can have Blondie, I didn't care for them at all ... much like Meatloaf

just my 2 cents

Two stand out for me: AC/DC's "Highway to Hell" and UFO's live album, "Strangers in the Night". AC/DC's record was an absolute stunner; not a dud on the album. Sadly, Bon Scott was gone just as the album was reaching its peak. UFO recorded what is arguably the best hard rock live album ever. The closing tune, "Shoot Shoot," never gets old.
