Before commenting on how the Bengals came away with a steal, I'd like to see how the contract is termed. It could be for a boat load of money early on with it tapering off in the later years which could lead to a hold out.
Way to rain on the parade.... How many good days do we get as Bengals fans? Let's try to enjoy this one.
He's right. It does appear to be front loaded, with something like 30 mil over the first 18months.
So he plays two seasons and then asks for more money. The only way he does this is if he's dominating - As he has in the past. You re-work the deal and make him the highest paid DT in the league again. You're really not losing here.... The guy is a fantastic player, seems to be healthy and doesn't cause many issues for the coaches or the community. We always have cap room for our own guys so it doesn't concern me that he'll have a hold out and then bolt.
Have a drink. Cheer up. The Bengals are actually being managed like a first-rate organization. Now, if we could only get a qb to bring it all together!
