This the worst of your takes and it’s bad. They were not going to be able to do anything quietly. You see people that know basketball watched him implode on the floor before their very eyes. Any talk of keeping the shades closed on that is just pure ignorance.

That was bad, but it could have been played off as a "bad moment".

Sure folks would have had some hesitation, but without both sides handling this extremely poorly, potential trade partners are focusing on his elite level, passing, ball handling and defense while convincing themselves that they can develop his free throw and 3 point shooting.

Now? All of this other stuff has completely overshadowed the positives to his game because teams now know they're getting a talented basket case who they can't depend on to work on his game and will quit on them when if things get tough.

Yeah the mental thing is over the top, that’s how much of a non competitor the guy is.

They probably aren’t 3 time all stars and the best perimeter defender in the league though.

lol

What good does any of that do if he won't play or will quit when things get tough?

That's a question the Sixers are going to have to answer because that's what they're expecting a big return for.

Simmons has already been subtracted from the lineup, so the addition by subtraction thing you mentioned has already happened.

Yes, it's easily ignored since absolutely no one is talking about it...

I think a phone call to Rich Paul for an interested party gets it all worked out.
- This summer Ben has done x y and z
- This is really about Ben the basketball player not fitting with Embiid the basketball player and everything that has transpired emanates from that bad fit
- The kid has been emasculated and taken down a peg and now you have moldable clay that an artist can turn into a masterpiece

Damn that sounds good. Simmons should be paying me.

So they should trade Ben Simmons so people in the media stop talking about it? LOL.

Maybe the Lakers should trade Lebron, so the media won't talk about him anymore too.

Again, show me anything that suggests he has been a distraction to the other players or coaches at this point.

You are flat wrong.

His value was down a little. A positive start to the season and he would have right back to where it was before

You are operating with a lot of hindsight.

Doc Rivers said something he shouldn't have. But the Sixers organization publicly praised Simmons throughout the summer. But Simmons, reportedly, demanded that the organization publicly rebuke Doc and Embiid for their comments which is just ridiculous.

The Sixers wanted to trade Simmons. But he was already was at the nadir of his trade value before all of the trade demands came out. The reality is that teams were looking at Simmons as a buy low opportunity and Morey wasn't willing to do that. That was true whether Doc and Embiid said what they said or not.

Clearly his value was not at the nadir.

Maybe. On the other hand, addition by subtraction is sometimes a real thing with teams.

Does anyone really believe he is causing the team problems? Covid has been a far bigger problem for the team, to be honest. He's been written off by the media and fans, IMO.

The problem with that is...there will be other teams who may be considering a re-build who are looking to move players with a lot less baggage.

I guess. How many center piece type players do you think will pop up?

Alright... the Celtics offer Marcus Smart, Enes Kanter and 3 2nd round draft picks for Ben Simmons.

Final offer.

No it wasn’t happening

Without the criticism and the drama it very well might have

The only reason he wouldn’t have rebounded is if his poor play was result of a mental health issue.

Which is a possibility you continue to ignore.

You are playing with the timeline here. His value was down after the Hawks series. No question about that. His actions after that series prevented any chance to redeem the situation. Morey, Doc, Brand and the ownership went to meet with him and explain that if he came back and rebuilt his value they would move him but they couldn't right now. He told them to pound sand and he made his trade demands public.

IIRC, you were saying that Simmons has no incentive to care about his trade value and that, if anything, his incentive was to diminish his trade value so his next team would be better. And, who knows, maybe he thought the same thing.

But what you and maybe Simmons didn't consider is that he still had 4 years on his contract and the Sixers were willing to play ball hard ball rather than get pennies on the dollar and look like they got rolled by Klutch and Simmons.

I said at the time that I thought that Klutch was overplaying this. I still think that is true. Simmons is no closer to getting traded today than he was in July but he's got a lot less money in his pocket.

Truth be told, Simmons better hope that the Kings or some other team makes the big splash for him because he could be in this same situation next July.

I ignore it because literally nobody that knows him believes it. There would have been a revolt by now in the players association, I expect you know that.

The fact that you think the media talking about what's going on with Ben is even in remotely the same universe as Lebron is one of the biggest laughs I've had in a long time.

Thank you for that.

How do you know that? Last summer, the Wolves said they were interested provided they didn't offer ANY of their notable players. No Townes, to Edwards, no Russell. So last summer they were willing to offer what? Malik Beasley?

The only way you might be right is if Simmons really is dealing with a serious mental issue right now, which seems highly unlikely.

lol

Because of his baggage, he doesn't have centerpiece value.

Either this is all a show and Simmons is essentially the same player but wants out of Philly. If he has real mental issues then he's untradeable. If this is all a facade then teams aren't likely to give a shit about this circus.

If we assume that the mental stuff is bunk and Simmons comes back more or less as is from last year. He is the sort of player that turn a team like the Kings or the Wolves into a playoff team. Maybe even a non play in team. For all his flaws, he's a difference maker. Even at the level of play he provided last year. So what sort of players of that caliber do you think are going to pop up that have 3+ years left on their contract?

How did the 6ers cause this. That moron signed a max contract last year, and he is not honoring it. So explain to me how it is their fault?

You're right. The Sixers did everything perfectly. All on Ben lol

It was not tepid criticism.

The coach of the team said he wasn’t sure they could win a championship with him.

That is a ridiculous thing to say publicly whether it is true or not.

Sixers did nothing wrong though. It is all on Ben supposedly
