So take some other teams non-starting expensive players just to be rid of him?

That makes absolutely no sense. Seems to me the rest of the team is done with him and doesn't really care. The media and fan base seems perfectly happy with letting Simmons rot on the bench.

Ok then.

But like I said, every year that passes with Simmons rotting on your bench is a wasted year with Embiid. And you don’t have many left.

So basically you already lost.

And if the 6ers and Simmons are content to punish each other, than really both sides deserve what they are getting.

Yes, we already lost. Let's not make it worse though. The only contract swap type deals that would make sense IMO are ones involving a large expiring contract. In other words, if Philly can trade Simmons for free cap space a year from now.

And how does trading him for negative assets get them closer to winning a title?

I doubt the Sixers could get below the cap regardless of what they do with Simmons. According to spotrac, getting rid of Simmons would basically leave the Sixers about flat on the cap.

I said Heild +. Heild is a good role player.

Hopefully one of the talented younger players comes with him. Probably won’t be Haliburton, definitely not Fox. But Mitchell?

And getting 2 good players for Simmons gives them a shot at the East crown.

That is not a win man.

They have an all star caliber player on a max contract who they can’t trade and refuses to play.

Simmons is trying to get his money too, but when push comes to shove he is choosing to give up his salary rather than play for the 6ers again.

6ers are losing worse than Simmons is and you can’t even see it.
It’s a win for the league

Wait until the trade deadline in case some one gets desperate.

But then?

2-3 players that fit the core.

Take Hield and whoever else you can get with him.

Because like I said, I don’t believe trade value is changing much. And it is the 6ers that have allowed this drama to escalate to where it is today. So get what you can and be rid of the distraction.
The Sixers have allowed things to get where they are by expecting a guy to honor his contract? That’s messed up.

I have repeatedly said that I would be good with Hield and one of the other guys. IMO, the Kings have always been the most logical trade partner.

It’s not likely to open up more than about 10 mil in cap space when all is said and done and you have to account for losing the exception. So really it’s about a difference of 5-6 million a year. You can sign Georges Niang with that. They need value in the contracts coming back.

If it’s the Kings the piece to go for is Harrison Barnes.

No. I have been over very clearly the ways that the messed up.

No need to rehash it.

I get the popular thing is to bash Simmons. But the 6ers caused this drama.

By ignoring the warnings about this guy out of college, that was their mistake and they doubled down by resigning him.

I'm fine with Barnes as well. I'll be happy as long as we get some mix of players from the Kings and we don't need to give up Maxey or Thybulle. I'm fine tossing Milton into the deal as well if that helps with the right deal.

How did the 6ers cause this. That moron signed a max contract last year, and he is not honoring it. So explain to me how it is their fault?

If you want to say that the Sixers exacerbated this drama then fine. But Ben Simmons is the one who created it. He's the one who played very poorly in the playoffs. He's the one chose to have a tantrum rather than be accountable. He's the one who publicly demanded a trade less than a year after signing a max contract. He's the one who publicly said he would never play for the Sixers again and made it personal. Although technically he wasn't the one who said any of that because he refused to even speak to the media and instead had Klutch do all the dirty work.

I'm actually on the side of the Sixers, all the way here. Why should they make things easy for Ben? They gave him a $170m contract and he's been acting like a spoilt child ever since the summer.

Fuck that guy. I hope it ruins his reputation and his value.

They caused the whole thing by publicly criticizing him after the playoff loss.

Simple.

That talk belonged in the locker room. And if they could have kept it private, they could have quietly traded him in the off season.

Instead, they started the drama and have continued to escalate it.

So yeah, they messed up. And they should have known Simmons would react in a childish way.

That is just it.

It ruins his value.

Now the 6ers can’t trade him as a result.

Wow. Talk about excusing bad behavior.

6 years of coddling him and protecting him and getting rid of players because he didn't want them on the team and the moment they say even the most tepid of criticisms of him and he demands to be traded? And you think the problem is the Sixers not coddling him enough?
