There is no stalemate. Simmons lost. You seem to not understand this.
You seem to fail to understand that the 6ers lost also.
And yeah there is a stalemate. Simmons isn’t any closer to playing or being traded.

Morey isn't going to trade Simmons until he gets something he finds to be proximate value. It won't be 100% of his value. It is NEVER 100% of the value of a star.
But it won't be pennies on the dollar. There just isn't any reason for him to do so.
That is not what I am saying man.
I used 100% meaning definitely. That was it.
His trade value is definitely lower than it was. That isn’t debatable.
And yes, there is very good reason for Morey to trade him for pennies on the dollar. The reason is that his value isn’t likely to increase any time soon.

YesShould he rescind his salary until he is able to meet his contractual obligations?
The Sixers lost by not trading Simmons a few years ago before the entire league figured out he was a fraud. That much is true.
But they would lose twice by letting him walk, and buying into his highly dubious mental illness talk, as you seem to have done. We all know that Simmons would experience a remarkable mental recovery and be playing ball the next day.
There is no stalemate, because the Sixers are calling Simmons' bluff and he has nothing. All he and his camp can do is whine to Shams (who incidentally is represented by the same agency as Rich Paul).
Now all that is left is for Simmons to slowly get fined, lose his entire salary this season, and possibly have another year under contract to the Sixers when arbitrators examine whether he filled his contractual duties (which he clearly is not doing).
His value will certainly improve as teams can trade free agent signings and become more desperate to make a move.
I fundamentally disagree with you that the Sixers need to trade him for pennies on the dollar. There is no point in that. That won't notably improve the team. Trading Simmons so they could be a somewhat better early round exit team achieves nothing.
How are the 6ers winning here?
If that plays out and Simmons is still on the roster next year, you will have wasted a year of Embiid. Not good.
They are winning by not paying him or giving in to his extortionate demands that he be dealt for pennies on the dollar.
He really has one choice, which is to come back and play and try to improve his trade value. If he doesn't do that, well, he is going to rot, forfeit his salary, and possibly never play NBA ball again. I am all for it.
Eh.
His value won’t really improve. There may be a more useful package that is acceptable to Philly, but it will be pennies of what they could have returned over the summer.
Bet on that.
And it is my opinion that the 6ers window as potential contender closed as soon as the Simmons drama started.

That is not a win man.
They have an all star caliber player on a max contract who they can’t trade and refuses to play.
Simmons is trying to get his money too, but when push comes to shove he is choosing to give up his salary rather than play for the 6ers again.
6ers are losing worse than Simmons is and you can’t even see it.
Making a deal that doesn't net a commensurate return back for Simmons likely puts an end to the entire Embiid window. The Sixers are cap-strapped and would only have the midlevel exception available to them. It's not ideal to waste any of Embiid's prime, but it's better than just quitting on that prime. How are the 6ers winning here?

It's possible that Philly's window is closed. It for sure is closed if Morey takes back a terrible deal for Simmons. Which is why he'd sooner redshirt Simmons than trade him for loose change.
He doesn't seem to get this very important point. Yes, damage has been done to the Sixers and their title chances. There is no real "win" available here anymore. But there are degrees of losses, and trading Simmons for pennies on the dollar, while taking on a bunch of crap contracts to make the money even for a trade...is somehow a good idea? No. It's simply not.
I honestly would like to know what sort of trade package @tlance is thinking the Sixers should take? Literally anything?
Sure. Why not. Maybe Kevin Love and 2 2nds to match salaries? Sounds great.

Wait until the trade deadline in case some one gets desperate.
But then?
2-3 players that fit the core.
Take Hield and whoever else you can get with him.
Because like I said, I don’t believe trade value is changing much. And it is the 6ers that have allowed this drama to escalate to where it is today. So get what you can and be rid of the distraction.
