The deal is done. “Value” doesn’t matter anymore. The Sixers aren’t looking to deal him. He’s the piece they’re pairing with Embiid to shoot their shot. Time will tell if they’re right but he fits the bill for what they were looking to pair Embiid with.

Agreed.

But when people try to justify the current deal and say “see, Simmons value didn’t go down because of what Harden’s return was last year”…

Then yeah, Harden’s current value does matter in terms of that discussion.

Yeah, but all the Nets and anti James Harden fans want to claim the Nets the winner when both teams got what they needed out of the deal.
Oddly enough, the more negativity I see about the deal, the better I start to feel about it.

So what are you saying exactly? He had legit mental health issues but they disappeared immediately when he put on a different colored jersey?

Face it, Simmons used mental health as an excuse to stay home because he was a petulant child who didn't like facing criticism of his performance. Being a petulant child is not a mental health issue, it's an emotional maturity issue.

No, I have been very clear on this.

I don’t know what is going on in his head. Neither do you.

It was very obvious the Philly environment was toxic. You all hated him the moment they lost game 7. No, Ben didn’t do anything to help the situation, but damn.

A hostile work environment puts a ton of stress on a person. I have been in one before and I hated every day. If he has a legit issue, it was certainly exacerbated by the environment in Philly. Remove the player from the situation, and I didn’t know why you all don’t get that his stress levels could decline enough to make him feel ready to play.

Certainly possible he made it all up. But also, what you continue to ignore is that mentally stable athletes don’t develop a fear of shooting free throws.

If I'm them I would try and make sure he plays in that game so he can get used to it for a possible playoffs series

I live in Houston. I am well aware of the cons on Harden. I am also well aware that he looks to be on the downside of his career.

He is a risk for sure and may flop big.

He is still better than having that bitch Ben Simmons.

For Philly?

There is no doubt he is a better pairing with Embiid than Simmons was.

The issue I have is everything else you gave with Simmons to your rival team for a player who I believe is knocking on the door of bad contract status.

@tlance Simmons mental health got drastically better now that he got traded and traveling with the Nets to Miami?

Or you care to admit it was a ruse to get traded?

How many times do I have to say it?

Do you all know absolutely nothing about mental health?

It might have been a ruse. 100% possible.

Simmons suiting up for the Nets does not in any way prove that it was or wasn’t.

Certainly agree with this.
Simmons travelling with the Nets tells us nothing really.

I agree with ya on the process. But understand you’re grading the work of Colangelo and Brett Brown and to a certain extent Elton Brand. They screwed this up through Simmons. Other mistakes but that’s essentially THE mistake. They should have dealt him after the Toronto exit when he pouted and kept Jimmy Butler and Tobias Harris. But that has nothing to do with the decision making that went into yesterday. That decision was made after Colangelo got shit canned because of his burner accounts and Brett Brown was the defacto GM as Elton Brand was just getting his feet wet. Brown and Simmons family had a relationship prior to Ben coming here and Brown got played and we all suffered. The NBA hated the Process. They stepped in and cut Hinkie’s nuts off. Many squads are running their own Process these days including your Cavs. Is the NBA threatening to step in and meddle in anybody else’s franchise? Sorry. You struck a nerve when you called out the Process. There were tons of mistakes and some were Hinkie’s as well. But it bothers me to this day that their meddling set that franchise on a tumultuous path and it’s all because the architect was a little too cavalier and aggressive in the way he did what everybody knows is a legit pathway to rebuild and teams are still doing to this day.
dude I totally agree

the NBA fucked the Sixers by basically making them hire Colangelo and fire Hinkie.

Easily the most damaging thing that has happened to the Sixers. I would have loved to see how Hinkie would have played it out.

I guarantee you they are fucking STACKED if Hinkie is allowed to stay. The problem was- that he took the tank job to an as-yet-unforeseen level and the NBA got their panties in a twist about it- which is fucking dumb.

It wasnt going to be much longer- maybe a season- until Hinkie went into win mode anyway.

such bullshit. Such an underrated "what if" - if the NBA office didnt stick their nose in.

Ben Simmons needs to embrace his heel turn.

Embrace being the bad guy. Relish in it.

Like James harden does
That’s what a champion does. He’s 25. Maybe he learns from this. Coming and taking the heat would be a step in the direction of being that guy.

And it should never be in the realm of a “what if”. That’s bullshit when the practice is still going on.

While I do think that the mental health aspect of it is nonsense. It was definitely a relationship that had gone bad. When that happens, sometimes just getting out of the relationship is all that's needed. I'd expect that on some level, some of the trying to make this trade better than it likely actually is by Sixers fans, is the relief of the whole thing finally being over.
