Both teams get an F for allowing themselves to be put in these situations to begin with though.![]()
James Harden, Ben Simmons highlight 76ers-Nets mega-trade: Instant grades and reaction
Two All-Stars are swapping teams in the East in a deal we couldn't have foreseen a month ago.theathletic.com
A- for both teams seems right. Today at least. Could look very different a year from now for both teams.
I am old enough to remember when some people in this thread scoffed at the Sixers getting anything for Ben Simmons. Looks like Morey played his cards right.
Turns out he was just dinged, not full on crippled. Took Curry, Drummond, 2 firsts and taking back Millsap's ghost to get Harden.
One more year, he's opting in for $47 mil (!)That is a massive loss for Philly and it does show that Simmons’ trade value is in the dumpster.
Philly had to add an awful lot to get a declining superstar who is a free agent this summer and wanted out of Brooklyn.

lol
You realize that the Sixers actually hurt their chances at winning a title and also gave up the kind of return for Harden that they thought they would get for Simmons, right?
Drummond is a nice big off the bench, nothing special but you need a big that can tangle off the bench. No problem with the 2 1st's...I predicted that but I think you are really underestimated Seth Curry. The dude is a sniper, not everyone can play defense or be a playmaker but the dude can absolutely stroke it. If they got Mills or Harris back that would be a win but before the buyout market, Curry was a floor spacer. Are they still a very dangerous team? Absolutely but you are acting like Curry isn't a big loss....he is, plain and simple.A massive loss for Philly? Good grief.

He's not a free agent this summer. He opted in as part of the trade.
Harden commanded more than Simmons before Simmons pissed himself and went home, also, if you followed the original attempts by Morey to pry him from Houston.
So you were basically totally wrong. You are also going to be totally wrong when Ben Simmons is miraculously cured of his mental health ailments in the next few days.

You heard him. He didn't stutter
I get that I may seem like I'm dismissing Curry which isn't really what I was trying to do. He has value. He's a quality player. But he's a role player.
I think fans have a tendency to view players based solely on their numbers and that can be misleading. Curry is a huge defensive liability and he will ALWAYS be a huge defensive liability because he's small and non athletic. In the regular season that isn't a big deal. But in the playoffs it is a huge deal.
As I said upthread, you want to bet whether the Sixers offensive improves or gets worse with Harden on the court? Are the Sixers with James Harden and Paul Milsap better than the Sixers with Simmons(even if he was playing), Curry and Drummond?
Had the Sixers got the Nets to take Korkmaz or Green or someone else, Seth Curry would have been moved to the bench. Because Maxey is already a more valuable player to the team than Seth Curry.
Nope.
Because I said all along I expect him to play when he is traded. Never said otherwise.
And Harden’s value is not close to what it was a year and a half ago. Sorry.
He has not played well this year.
Yes, Philly had to add a lot. Curry and Drummond both fill direct needs for Brooklyn. Good luck beating them!
